I saw aqua SD ebay auctions so I put in a few bids and ended up winning a few corals... most around $5-7 including several acros so will be interesting to get those wed. Nothing too crazy but should be fun and no biggie if I lose some at that price.

Everything looking great, full PE and growth nubs.

The fluconazole has really been a pleasant surprise. Of course algae wasn’t too bad as I tried to peroxide and trim it every week, but 1 cap of the reef flux shocked me. I was going to add only half a cap, but the powder was hard to judge and seemed to work great. Before that I had some vibrant from a friend, but it didn’t work as well and the coral seemed to react a bit unlike the fluconazole.

After most the algae looked dead after a couple days I did a 100% change to get the nutrients out and added another tab to the new water. That was around a week ago. I will do a 100% change Tuesday to prep for new corals and will keep a cap in that new water as well.

Oh! I did find 3 vermetid snail tubes that are growing I need to put superglue on soon. Prolly easier to do that when rock is out of water, but I might try and cover them today while in the jar

uhhhgggggggg

I saw a lot of Montipora Eating Nudibranches last night. Took out some montis and dipped in bayer, that knocked them off, and pulled some off rocks with tweezers, then a few more this morning. I am not quite sure what I need to do. I am thinking try and find a small 6 line that I will just give away after a month or two? Good bye stometella snails if I do that, however I don't see another route? I don't have any other salt systems but this little jar so I can't really take all the montis out every night and glue back on.

Lfs has a small 6 line in stock so he is my new addition. For the record I am against keeping fish in a pico, but this guys little size should be fine for eat the pests for a couple months. I have 0 problem giving him away for free after that. He can’t even be a full inch.

dang, as soon as I saw you say you nabbed some coral from aqua sd I was gonna tell you to be sure to quarantine them, but after I scrolled down, unfortunately it looks like I was too late. I just picked up a few pieces yesterday from will. I woke up today to find monti eating nudis on my glass, which ive never ever had before and started freaking out. My forest fire digi and monti caps have been thriving and im about to leave the state for 2 weeks for a business trip, so im sure theyll be gone before my return. super bummed. Time to set up a coral QT. I wish you the best of luck and I hope you kill those suckers!

Thanks! I think the 6 line will do a good job, but the lesson being to QT as you said! I should get another jar just for that.

I just bought some Bayer to dip any new acquisitions in. I've read some good stuff on the results it has as a dip.

It is good stuff, I saw the nudis drop off when dipped in it. But I am pretty sure that I dipped every coral, and removed plugs where I could so somehow eggs escaped my attention. I guess!

How are you lighting this. Thinking of doing this in my office. Thinking if using a Kessil A80, but I imagine if have to be inventive to position/attach the light.

Running a kessil a160 sitting right on the lid. I was running it at 100% but algae was growing fast, so for the time being I am running it at 50% but will take it up to 75% before long again.

I dosed some levamisole to kill the nudis, I didn't know this was an option as I use this wormer for every FW fish I get so had it on hand.

Poor stomatella died right away, however the trouchus and nass snail seem fine. Corals seem fine as well. Hopefully this will be the end of the nudis. I gave the 6 line away before treatment - I hope my manual removal and 1 week with the wrasse now with the treatment will be good enough. I will do levamisole again for my W/C this weekend and call it good. I think the eggs hatch in 2-4 days so this should be enough and then I will re stock pods and stomatella.

Got the new tunze pump after sending back the previous one as defective. I am very happy I did, it makes much less noise and I am happy with it. Not only is there less vibration but the pulse is much less noticeable. Yay!

I did the second and final dose of levamisole yesterday before the WC and pump install. Now we wait.... although I am feel pretty good that this treatment killed the nudis.

Now back to business as usual, nothing of concern with the jar right now. Would be nice to get some more stometella, but that's about it.

My gf really likes sexy shrimp, I mean who doesn't, but I think that will make W/C tricky so I m not going to get any of those. I can see them getting smashed or sucked up in pump or siphon.

I am in a holding pattern of seeing if the tank is really free of monti eating nudibrachs. Sure is hard to get rid of pests, makes me wonder if a tic garden or mini/maxi or mixed reef would have been better just because when pest hits it hits hard.

I did get a deep blue 10” cube I am thinking of transferring the jar. The glass distortion is so much less and can still do 100% w/c with a 5g bucket.

Very pleased with the 4g deep blue cube.

Going to get their 12" pedestal stand it's really sharp looking.

I cut acrylic 10" X10" for the top. It's 3/8" so pretty thick but you can notch the top for the cords so the fit is exact and and still sealed.
