He's pretty, but he's looking a little skinny for sure.I thought thus guy was dead in the cup at petsmart. All I saw was his tail and he was on his side. I told my husband "look dead betta". And he instantly went from dead fish to asking for food.

I dont buy bettas because so many die in those cups. I just couldnt let him sit there.
Time to scrape plastic... somehow
any food advice? I fed him 3 times already some flake. He's a super slow eater. And he is skinny. He's pretty, but he's looking a little skinny for sure.
Mine eat flakes for the most part. I have one that prefers the LiveAquaria brine soft pellets. They make Betta flakes and Betta pellets as well. Bug Bites or something like that.any food advice? I fed him 3 times already some flake. He's a super slow eater. And he is skinny.
Lots of them start out skinny. If it's of any help, he's pretty active swimmer. Mollies are terrified of him. He's already claimed the tank as his.
But, getting him back into proper weight is still ideal.
I decided to let him try seafood slushy..

Young Bettas sometimes have translucent fins that eventually turn to a very pale blue. I had one that the whole Betta was almost transparent and eventually his body turned white and his fins were a very light baby blue. Beautiful fish!Part 2
Freshwater
The betta fins being translucent, which I absolutely love the painted look. The colors very rich.
This could be caused by a poor diet. We all know how petstores treat bettas in a cup.
If the fins color in. I'm ok with it. He looks like a japanese koi painting to me. That makes my asian side happy.

We only ever kept 1 betta when I was young. I don't recall how long we kept him. But, my mom loved that fish and my bother fed it to his jack dempsey. So my guess is less than 1 year.Young Bettas sometimes have translucent fins that eventually turn to a very pale blue. That's a keeper in my book! I dunno what's wrong with me.I can't find any grown up pictures of him.

I was shocked honestly. I thought he was black and white, and dead. The moment I let him out of the cup into the molly tank. His color changed that fast. And he was swimming free all over the plants and air bubblers.I love the splattered paint look on the Betta!
