I thought thus guy was dead in the cup at petsmart. All I saw was his tail and he was on his side. I told my husband "look dead betta". And he instantly went from dead fish to asking for food.

I dont buy bettas because so many die in those cups. I just couldnt let him sit there.

Time to scrape plastic... somehow

He's pretty, but he's looking a little skinny for sure.

any food advice? I fed him 3 times already some flake. He's a super slow eater. And he is skinny.
Mine eat flakes for the most part. I have one that prefers the LiveAquaria brine soft pellets. They make Betta flakes and Betta pellets as well. Bug Bites or something like that.

If it's of any help, he's pretty active swimmer. Mollies are terrified of him. He's already claimed the tank as his.

But, getting him back into proper weight is still ideal.
Lots of them start out skinny.

I decided to let him try seafood slushy..

A mix of tdo pellets, clam, shrimp, mussel, and the molly fish went nuts and so did he.. But, I wonder if it's too salty of a mix? I don't add salt water. Just the flesh

Out of a hundred people I talk to or respond to on here.

There is always that one guy who wants to be hysterical.

I bring you ginger of impending doom and destruction!
And a motled one... ignore the overly harassed goni. Shes getting better.

So a very long lenghty conversation.

If you have surface scum and a difficult rime getting rid of it.

Saltwater mollies actually skim the water surface. I'll try to get a video next time it happens.

Benepets, the goniopora love it. After 3 weeks has decided to extend again. I kept target feeding, smothering. Every other day

20250604_100315.jpg

Went from orange to silver and is regaining color
20250604_100245.jpg

This piece shows signs of when fed the benepets.
I'll do a before and after next feeding

I think the split caused chemical issues as coral had shown signs of irritation. Now that it appears both halves are healling well. The blastos and one meaty are looking much better. So where is the csb?

Part 2
Freshwater
The betta fins being translucent, which I absolutely love the painted look. The colors very rich.
This could be caused by a poor diet. We all know how petstores treat bettas in a cup.
If the fins color in. I'm ok with it. He looks like a japanese koi painting to me. That makes my asian side happy.

Young Bettas sometimes have translucent fins that eventually turn to a very pale blue. I had one that the whole Betta was almost transparent and eventually his body turned white and his fins were a very light baby blue. Beautiful fish!

We only ever kept 1 betta when I was young. I don't recall how long we kept him. But, my mom loved that fish and my bother fed it to his jack dempsey. So my guess is less than 1 year.

in response to the event. My mom did something to jack and replaced him with 20 fancy fin guppies. I was 5-6 years old.

But, i will enjoy keeping another. He is hardly over an inch. So, he is still young.

I can't find any grown up pictures of him.

That's a keeper in my book! I dunno what's wrong with me.
I love the splattered paint look on the Betta!
I was shocked honestly. I thought he was black and white, and dead. The moment I let him out of the cup into the molly tank. His color changed that fast. And he was swimming free all over the plants and air bubblers.

I almost picked up two more females and a male baby the other day at Petco... A Double Tail female with beautiful color, a female koi like yours, and a deep blue almost black crowntail male.

Once the 110 is working properly (it's a swamp right now... Looks like phytoplankton) I'm going to have a harem of females and then 2 or 3 males in Acclimation boxes. For now, I have 3 little ta ks set up so I'm pretty much at my limit.
