Hello from La Pine, Oregon (aka BFE)
My husband has been bitten by the salt water bug! My 7yr old son and I have been building a 55gl paludarium since June, requiring multiple trips to our local aquatic store, after a couple trips into the store with us he ended up purchasing an established 8gl nano tank :smirking-face:. This forum has been a godsend since bringing our tank home. We had a rocky start, involving an inaccurate salinity ready (dang air bubbles), an ammonia spike after reassembling the tank and a purple & green leather coral that had an arm break off during transport. We had some VERY unhappy coral and were concerned we were going to lose everything. After a couple days of diligent care and HOURS of research we stabilized the tank and didn't lose any coral or any other tank inhabitants. Even the broken purple leather is happily thriving in its new location (the middle one in the picture below). I keep squirreling out every time I talk by the tank and I keep finding new inhabitants. The other day I discovered a peanut worm sticking out of the live rock feeding, so cool!
There was a single hermit in the tank when we brought it home and it has a coral polyp growing on its shell, I'm slightly obsessed with it and can't for the life of me figure out what type of coral it is. Would love your input on what you think it is!
