Jager's Evo 13.5 Reef tank

Picked this stuff up from one of my lfs. This is what they use in all their tanks and the company is local. I reached out to the company for some more info and the owner called me and went over what I should do. The plan is to manually dose 1ml everyday for one week and see what the parameters look like.

This will be my starting point and I will post my parameters everyday for the next week so you all can see. I appears to be good stuff but I suppose we will find out.

I love when a company cares so much about their service that the owner steps in to help out. With just your interaction/word of mouth with these guys I will buy their product if I ever need it!

Well guys I have some sad news. The yasha goby committed suicide last night. My guess is that he jumped out when I had the top off during feeding time last night. I didn't think he was missing last night cause he usually retreats into his cave after dinner. My wife found our dog eating him this morning. :( He will be missed.

On a better note here are some pictures of the tank.

Loving the tank! I just set mine up last night. I thought my temp was too high but after reading your thread along with others...79-81 is okay but I saw you raised your LED bar some. If you don't mind me asking, how did you do that?

Thanks! I cut some strips of rubber from an old iPhone otterbox case I had lol

Day 7 of dosing
SmartSelectImage_2017-08-06-20-25-03.png

I have sent the owner of the product the parameters over the last 7 days and am looking forward to hearing from him. I will let you guys know what he says. I definitely think that I need to up the amount of each dose.

Here are the parameters from the last week or so. Dosing was started on 7/31.

What do you guys think?

I spoke to the owner of Reef Results Marine and due to my alkalinity still not changing much. He recommended I use their bicarbonator buffer to raise the alkalinity to where it needs to be and continue dosing daily with the calcium carbonator to maintain it. I'm going to pick up the bicarbonator buffer hopefully today and see what happens. Stay tuned!

I had to get rid of the blue sapphire damsel I had because he was attacking the clown. I swapped it out for a Cherub Angel.

Been dosing the bicarbonator buffer for 2 days now and here is where I'm at.

I also forgot to tell you guys that I added a fan to blow on top of the tank to keep the temp down. It's not pretty but works flawlessly, my tank temps fluctuate between 78-79.9 rather than 79-81. Function>form. Only downside is that I have to add about a half gallon of ro water every night to keep up the the evaporation.

lol you won't believe me but I was actually looking at the same fan last night at my nearest walmart. I am having trouble myself with my temp going from 78...to 79.7. It is HOT over in Houston. I even did what you did with the light and adjusting it to were some hot air can escape but not sure if that is even working. What are normal temps to have?

lol I live in south Florida and it's super hot here also. I think your temps are fine. They say 72-78 is the range but I think as long as your temps are consistent with no huge fluctuations, it'll be fine. I've had fluctuations from 78-81 with no adverse affects I could see. I wish I could hold a solid temp of 78 but I don't think it's realistic.

I got my rodi unit this week and will set it up this weekend. Then I can start getting water into my evo!
