Kessil a80 with controller. I wanted a rimless look with a controllable light as my schedule changes a lot.

Well as always I went to my favorite lfs to go get ro water and bought a bunch more coral... I just can't resist. I'm picking them up this weekend when I have time to acclimate them. Here are some pics of what I purchased.

These are photos that the lfs took of them previously.

They are finding me an ultra orange octospawn that should look similar to this one

So I sent my last weeks parameters to the owner of Reef Results Marine and we spoke today about them. He feels that I should stop dosing the bicarbonator buffer since my alkalinity as of yesterday was 8.5dkh. He also recommended I increase my dosing of the calcium carbonator to 2ml per day to maintain my parameters. I'm going to give it a shot an see what happens. Here are some graphs from the last week of dosing

My mag is a little off right now, I'm hoping it'll come up in a few days with just dosing the calcium carbonator.

It's been 2 days without dosing the bicarbonator buffer.

The alkalinity has been slowly dropping every day so I decided to start dosing the bicarbonator buffer again to bring it back up and maintain it around 8.5dkh. The mag is still low and holding around 1185, still waiting to see if it will come up over the next few days.

Cycle complete! Got two blue chromis just to be sure all is well. I also built a stand for the tank and added a hydor koralia 240 for flow. Next is ATO and reservoir.

Sorry I have been absent for the last few weeks. I had to prepare for Hurricane Irma that came through south Florida and recover after the storm. I purchased a Cyberpower 650va UPS backups for the tank as well as brought home 3 350va UPS backups from my office to keep the pump running on the tank if we lost power during or after the storm.

We lost power at approximately 8am on 9/10 and I ran the main pump every hour for 15 minutes until the storm passed and I could get the generator operational. While it wasn't easy it paid off and I was able to save every piece of livestock thank God. We did not have power in the house for 5 days and we were running on the generator the whole time which powered the tank, refrigerator and window Acs I installed after the storm.

My parameters stayed consistent throughout the whole ordeal surprisingly.

I got a new coral yesterday. Can you spot it?
