Day 4 - Things are going good so far. I removed the rotting shrimp on day 3 and added a new shrimp. It was just making a mess everywhere. I now put the new shrimp in a mess bag. I have added 1 of the 2 media baskets. I am waiting for the marine pure bio balls to get here in a few days. I am now seeing Nitrates and see Ammonia is up to 1.2

I called Intank and they said they don't have the size i need for the intank media baskets so I decided to build my own. Hey its not professional but it is going to get the job done.. I also checked tests and here are the results.

Day 2:
Ammonia 0.8
Nitrate 0.5
PH 8.2

That's what I thought too... Everybody talking about crack too much...

[emoji848]

Tank Cracks are possible on any tank.. This is why I got the new Rimless Flat Panel. I too also read about those jbj rounded corner cracks. The new JBJ 45 Rimless also comes in 10mm glass.

Oh yeah for sure... Sounds like you got a nice tank though.

Sorry, I was just making a funny. Because he said he thought he might have jinxed you. And when you got the crack tank, I was kind of thinking the same thing. Those guys were talking about a cracked tank. And then bam! Your tank came in cracked.

yea I gotcha. i was like oh no here we go when I saw it cracked.. lol so far I am very happy with this tank. I had bought the tunze 1073 and it was soooo loud (maybe bad) but going to return it back. I know people complained about the stock pumps and honestly they are perfect. I think good flow and dead silent.

Yeah I bet. That is a nice looking tank. I love the look of rimless tanks. I remember reading about someone who's powerhead was making noise in the beginning I guess before it was broken in.

LPS for now. I am on the zoa garden bandwagon for now. but being that tank is so small I am going to have to be very selective on what I put in there.

It’s not THAT small, you can get quite a few in there. I’ve got over 35 (softies, lps, sps), not including my starter zoa garden, with a good amount of space for more. Your scape will allow for a lot of variety if you want it.

post a link yo your tank.. or the build if you have.. I am looking at the tank now and not sure if I like the shelf anymore. lol each zoa frag is going to need atleast what 3x3 if not more. so on the shelves i can only probably fir 3-4 zoas but i will figure it out.

I’m probably not quite as stringent with space restrictions as you are, my zoas for example are right next to each other and I think they’ll fill in w/o attacking each other. I try to place corals all around so when they grow they will not but directly into each other but will still be close, so it will hopefully help the display look full as it grows out. I haven’t created a build thread, I might do one, but I’m already about 4 months in. I don’t think you need to change your scape at all, you can get plenty i’d think just like it is, plus it looks great.

Thanks. Yeah I use a mix of reef glue(or gel based superglue) and reef epoxy(aquastix), a tip from WWC. Usually I first trim back some of the frag plug disc (assuming it’s not fully encrusted, or zoas, or fits perfectly into the rock work already), trying to make it look more “rocky” than a perfect circle, and cut off the stem. Then add a large drop a reef glue, then a small ball of the epoxy spread across the plug on top of the glue, and finally another large drop of reef glue. It works really well for placing them in all sorts of positions so you can mount them anywhere. Only took a minute to mount my cyphestrea upside down underneath one of my shelves (low light, I think).

I am at Day 15 now. I have no more shrimp in the tank. I am seeing very high Nitrites and Nitrates.. Ammonia is close to 0.

SOOO tank came in last night and it was cracked!!! check it out. Called DR. Fosters and they sending me a new tank.

Oh my goodness, I just had the same thing happen with my 45 gallon from Dr. Fosters and Smith. When looking at a few of the builds on this specific tank, it seems to be a problem with the shipping/handling.

Ohhhh not good to hear. The tank comes straight from jbj to our house, the first tank I got had about 1 inch of dirt inside. This tells me it was a old tank sitting there for long time. 2nd one I got was 99% much cleaner and was repacked with extra foam all over. But I have my tank now cycling and no issues. Really like the tank.

FYI... the return pumps are good, not sure if you had plans to replace them. They are quiet and provide enough flow. I returned my tunze pump.

How’s the SM drop algae scrubber? Have you had a chance to set it up yet? I’ve considered trying one out but have a hard time finding reviews on it.
