After a year and a half in this hobby without testing my water I finally fell in line today and picked up test kits. Between my lights and the addition of gfo I'm noticing my montis are kinda washing out and I thinks its alk swings due to my water being stripped of p04. Also the tanks getting full and I've been holding on to this c balance so I think it's time for a doser. Haven't had one yet becuase it seems a little out of my league so I'm gonna run some tests and see what's what :) also if anyone has any suggestions for a newbie doser I'd appreciate it

OK sooo after testing everything twice its not looking right :(
Salinity: 1.025 (redsea pro)
Ca: 490 (redsea pro)
KH: 10.5 (redsea pro)
Mg: 1600!! (redsea pro)
PH: 8.1 (Hannah checker)
p04: 0 ppm (crappy api so not accurate)
N03: 0 ppm (same api kit)
Ammonia: 0 (api)
Temp: 78°
This is on week old water
I've always water changed every Sunday 20% aquavitro salt rodi water. Perhaps I should make it every other week? I see no reason to change water today and I feel like my Ca, Mg, and alk are all too high right?

Everything is not bad looking except with the low phos and nitrates you want your alk about 9 and make I had to lower my Monti caps down lower and they came back great and I use the same stuff to dose

Blue harptail blenny I picked up yesterday hes so skinny I couldn't leave him there so I brought him home to fatten up. So far he's not eating seems interested but still not comfortable I made one of Paul b's brine shrimp feeders yesterday shrimp should hatch tonight so hopefully that fattens him up in the meantime he's loaded up with pods and is slowly pecking around here and there. Such a great fish I really hope he comes around :)

Thanks me too!! He's stayed out in the open so far and tons of personality can't wait to see him healthy
Some of then can be a little finicky for a blenny. Best of luck though, they are beautiful.

Phosphate been creeping so I added aquavitro phosfiltrum to the reactor hopefully this helps I can't really cut back on feedings. Also did my bi monthly cleaning pumps hoses ect and emptied the fuge of everything but a ball of cheato taking a page out of @d2mini, book and trying out the tumbling ball o' cheato. The frag tank has turned into more of a mongrove slash coral recovery tank so I have plenty of sand and rock to cover the bare fuge

What pump is that? I have the same fug, and finding it hard for me to get my Chaeto to tumble. Angling it downwards is smart :)

It's a jebao wp 10 I have it pointed down and at a slight angle so that the water entering the fuge help the tumble. It took a lot messing around to get it tumbling consistently check d2minis tank he's the one I got it from maybe you'll find some tips there

Ah man, such a expensive pump. I have a reg koralia, but it doesn't do a good enough job at making it tumble

That power head was 34$ on amazon. Good pump been running over a year

Ended up pulling the trigger on this pump. How do you keep the chaeto from getting caught in the pump? When I run mine, after an hour, the entire ball of Chaeto is stuck to the power head

I just bunched it up in a ball and put it between the the powerhead and the inflow of the fuge so pump on right opposite inflow it tool a while but it found its place
