Just how reefsafe is metroplex?

So, I just ordered some focus to treat everyone in my DT for possible internal parasites. I have one clown which definitely is not feeling well. White stringy poop and constantly gasping. Being that I'm dealing with a parasite, I'm sure that it could have spread to the other animals, who show no signs so far. I have given the fish a 1hr bath in paraguard, but would like to treat my entire system for the parasites. I have also a brand new BTA who's been in the tank since earlier this week. Can I safely dose Metroplex (Metronidazole) to the entire system or will it kill my coral, anemone without being binded with focus? Focus wont arrive for a few days

There is no reef safe meds. Unless you are a risk taker, otherwise it may be wise to either put the fish in QT and leave the tank fallow for a while or get your corals into a holding tank and treat the DT.

If you are able to remove the fish and give him a bath, then put him in a quarantine. I've been treating my yellow tang with Kanaplex+Focus because I would have to break down the entire tank to get him out of it. If you have a way to treat the fish with the issue, then by all means do that first.

As per anecdotal evidence from this thread, it sorta is. But I haven't read all the way through to see if any corals/inverts were negatively impacted. Perhaps @twilliard can provide CliffsNotes.

Unless it's bound to food, metroplex is not reef safe. And dosing the water is not as effective as feeding for internal parasites anyway. I'd wait for the focus.. and maybe even plan to run carbon for the 10 day food treatment just in case.

My only hesitation on QT the fish is that I work 60hr weeks and the only other tank I have is a 2.5gtal spec so params will go way out there until I get home. Seems like it would be far too much stress for an already dying fish. @AllSignsPointToFish

Maybe you can get on Craigslist and get a 10 or 20 gallon tank for QT?
