Justfebreezeit UNS 90LA

Just ran a full battery of tests.

8.2 PH during peak lighting
7.6 Alk
390 Calc
1280 Mag
0 Nitrates
0.02 Phos

I haven't tested Mag or Calcium in over a year. So good to see it's right about where my salt mixes still.

I've been dosing 1-2ppm nitrate every day in hopes to get some reading.

Phosphate has been very stable for about 8-9 months now, it was hard getting it off 0 as well.

Also cleaned all the pumps and added a hygger mini gyre. The pocci was blocking flow so I needed something.

Just switched to the Nicrew Hyperreef 150w gen 2. 20260406_170404.jpg

It's about 12 inches off the water, I will probably lower it to about 8 and get a shroud for it. Otherwise the lighting is much more dynamic now.

Starting off at alot 33ish watts of power and looking to get it up to about 60ish. Per serious reefs experiments with watt relationship to par.

The blade only had 3 different led cloors in it and it never quite made anything pop even though the spread and aesthetics for this type of tank was perfect.

Been having Dinos on the sandbed for a few months now. Going to start actively trying to get rid of them besides just sifting the sand like normal.

Using the instructions outlined in macks dino pdf. I think its prorocentrum but I have not put it under a microscope to positively id.

No I'll effects to corals or tank inhabitants (that I've noticed) but I want to get ahead of it.

Beautiful setup. I am looking at this tank as possible upgrade in near future. What mount are using for the nicrew? Also was the AI blade a grow or glow and was 30" or 21"? Thanks

Thank you it is a great tank.

It's one i made out of 2x2 wood. It worked well but I did buy tslot aluminum and made a new mount.

It was blade grow 30". It fits perfectly over the display without lighting the aio section. I will say the nicrew renders color so much better. Plus I don't have to remove the light to take the lid off which is nice.

The cons are the spread isn't perfect and much more light spill.

I love the simplicity of your tank. It looks great! Also looks bigger than 20 gallons. What’s hand dimensions?

36x12x12 abouts

Thank you. I do love the dimensions

I'll update with pictures hopefully this weekend.

But my prorocentrum dinos seem to be decreasing over the last week or so. Diatoms are starting to take over. So the silicate dosing seems to be working.

I was in Orlando for the wife's work conference this last weekend so I swung into Top Shelf Aquatics and picked up some stuff. Again pictures to come, but for date reference. A Garf Bonsai, A periwinkle passion monti, pink branching cyphaestra, ninja star snail, and a pom pom crab.

All corals mounted and seemingly doing well. The long term inhabitants are coloring up alot under the new light as well as increased nitrates. I'm finally able to detect about 1-2 ppm now. Phosphates are still struggling to keep it detectable but dosing .02ppm daily.

Garf and Branching Cyphastrea are on my "hopefully some day" wish list.

Keep up with the phosphate dosing. That's what finally got rid of my prorocentrum Dinos.

Yes I have always loved the Garf Bonsai.

Good to hear. They aren't terrible but it's definitely not fun looking at a dirty sandbed.

They can also be slightly aggressive. If I recall, they're one of the Dinos that can sting our corals.

Cool seeing the spongodes just trying to grow over the pc rainbow.

Also if you compare to old photos you can really see the color filling in well.

The nicrew really brings out the pink on the pink streaked wrasse to

I tried to get a Spongodes one time and ended up with a WWC Slimeball Anacropora instead. Still a cool coral but 0 plating or encrusting.

Found a great deal on a Fiji cube 38 Peninsula. I honestly hadn't been planning an upgrade but life finds a way.

Same length but its 4 inches wider and taller. Fits the space just as well. I Built a stand over the last few weeks and made magnetic panels that are child proof. So my 3 year old can stick his hands everywhere like the old stand.

Will be transferring everything over over the next few months!

Final Update on the UNS 90LA. Loved the tank. My prorocentrum dinos have been defeated (knock on wood). I syphoned the sand bed about 8 days ago now because it had looked like diatoms had taken over. Nothing has returned since then.

All corals are doing well. My poccillipora has started to kill my Oregon tort. My spongodes has started to grow over my Pc rainbow. Things like that happening all over the tank. One of the reasons i didn't mind the upgrade.

The fish and CUC have been bullet proof.

Will still answer any questions about the tank if people are curious about the UNS 90LA
