i own 2 ap700's about 7" over a reefer 450 and I'm using slight diffusers and almost hitting 70%. i can keep anything from SPS to softies under these bad boys. however, i am getting slight shadowing but thats mostly due to my choice in sand color, i chose black. so with any lighting, thats going to happen. @Mr_Banana_Pants i think you'll LOVE this light. its so easy, no bullcrap of dialing in reds, greens, yellows, uv, cool, blue, dark blue, emerald green, peacock yellow... etc.

Nice! I don't think I've seen your tank before. Good job.

Great tank. I'm also following this thread, appreciate the info. I'm deciding between AP700, Mitras, or ??? for a reefer 170. Want to avoid the shadowing + disco ball I get with my AI Prime (a great light for the money, just want upgrade)

The Disco effect isn't any real concern with the Kessil Dense Matrix LED. Just to illustrate what I mean: in order to get any kind of color separation you would have to tune the colors in a way that you wouldn't like it anyway. You have to crank the colors green and red to 100% to see any kind of Disco and trust me, nobody is going to set the light any where close to that for any reason.

I've already shown that with the overlapping light from each Dense Matrix Array and reflected bouncing around the tank acros and other SPS don't even need direct light to live.

I guess you didn't see the BRS video where they compared the illumination/shadowing of a coral insert with other LEDs and even mentioned how it was similar to the T5, save you guys the suspense, Kessil AP700 was the victor. Literal proof that theory is wrong.

I went and watched the video again, very informative. So much information it's impossible to get it all in one sitting.

As you can see here the AP700 is a Huge step up from the 360s

******!!!!! NOTE !!!!!!!****************

All these readings where taken before BRS discovered that the Illcor was under reporting PAR by 30%, although all the readings are accurate compared to each other they are 30% lower than actual.

i keep meaning to set up a build thread, but I'm lazy AF when it comes to putting it all together step by step lol. i'll get around to it someday ;Writing

You totally should!

Check out my build in the SPS sections when you get a chance, maybe even trade thoughts: "Bif's Reef" in the SPS area.

This picture is worth a thousands words.

Thousand words of proof that the Kessil AP700 can create a great diffused spread that illuminates even the undersides of rocks and corals.

This picture illustrates exactly my point in my own system.

Focus on the darker area between the Sunset and Seasons Greetings monti. It is darker and in fact doesn't receive ANY direct light yet there is growing a colorful portion of the monti right there.

I started a similar thread asking if the ap700 was worth the $. I got a lot of positive feedback and some good opinions as well. I bought the ap700 and must say that I'm impressed with it and have been seeing good growth and better coloring on my corals. I am see new heads growing on my canes, blasts and duncans already. It is a very strong light and I set up the acclimation mode for 14 days and all seems well.

Hi,

I recently switched from iphone to android. After doing the switch, the android functioned for a few moments and suddenly stopped, and I can no longer find the lamp. I did all the resets suggested by Franco, tried the Iphone it used to function with and nothing can find the light.

- it connects to the wifi, but i cannot get passed step 2, the app just shuts off on the iphone

- all possible factory resets have been done

- From what I am told (not sure this is true) the computer in the light would be "jammed" with too many phone that have been synced.

- would anyone know a way to completely roll back the lamps software? Pressing color down and intensity up and unplugging it as suggested by kessil is not helping.

Thank you

thanks! i used custom designed mounts from the owner of 6061.com but unfortunately he isn't making them anymore. I'm actually in the process of putting together a floating canopy, so when that happens. i will list them. they're incredible, and SOLID.

mine works quite well, every now and then i'll have to refresh my app and re-sync the ap700's (they'll run a different channel than they're supposed to but still turn off when they're programmed to)
