Yes, you will need to configure your router to first assign the IP address using the KHG MAC address. Then you need to do port forwarding for that IP address. Finally, dynamic IP address service if you are on a home connection that constantly changes your public IP address.

Thank you for stopping in :), thank you for the prompt call backs and personal support that you provide, you're a good guy who does a great job!

Thank you. All I ask is for people to give us a chance to help them BEFORE they give us or the product a bad review. Part of the "complete" product experience is also the type of support you get. Sometimes things get shifted during shipment or sometimes the individual product came out of the factory not right (it happens and every company knows that no matter how much QC you do, things slip through) and being able to contact the company and get support right away should also count but is often forgotten.

I fully intended to tag you in this thread from the beginning unfortunately the @ in your screen name prevents the system from recognizing the tag. One of the reasons I chose to start this thread was to help prevent anyone from getting frustrated by letting others see my (sometimes many) stumbling points so they maybe don't stumble over the same things (I tend to be my own worst enemy). But also to provide true transparency in my experience, both with the KHG but also with the experience that CoralVue has provided. Frankly you guys shine in my opinion. All my issues have been operator error . :D

So I decided to bite the bullet and order a KHG controller from Coralvue. I've decided that I wanted to share my experiences with you, my fellow reefers on Reef2Reef. Let me start out by saying I don't want this thread to turn into an argument about whether it is worth the money or not. Too me it is!!! (I will waste my money how I please, and you are welcome to do the same! ;))

I've never started a build thread on Reef2Reef, It's not my style, so I will do my best to integrate some info about my system to try and make up for that, but also to provide everyone with a guideline of how I choose to operate my reef.

First off, lets get to the goodies... here's the tank... It was started in late Feb 2016, so it's approaching it's one year birthday. We just won a battle with bryopsis (using fluconazole) so I filmed a short, shakey video to show the tank in it's now algae free state.

Now onto the other good stuff!

First off the KHG came today, and I nearly had a heart attack (I know I am not the only one). The box says the "standard edition"... I ordered the pro!!! OH NO!!! (Silent freak out). Called customer service and left a message. Then hopped on here and messaged the friendly folks at Coralvue, who promptly replied back that the manufacturer had put the wrong sleeves on the box and they were 100% sure it was the Pro unit... So I unwrapped it... opened the box... and indeed there was a card stating that the unit was indeed the pro model (WHEW... crisis/heart attack averted). Once again Coralvue, thank you for responding rapidly. Carlos at Coralvue called a short time later to respond to my message, I told him Chris had straightened me out and thanked him for calling me back so quick.

So that's it for now. After receiving it I realized I need to upgrade my router desperately. Tomorrow I will be going to Best Buy and getting a new router and then running all the neccissarry infrastructure to install the KHG. I also need to pick some vessels for the reagent, the bicarbonate solution, and a waste container.

I will do my best to keep everyone updated on progress :)

Happy Reefing!!!

SPS. Alk 7.5

Gorgeous tank! I couldn't keep my alkalinity that low or my pH would plummet. I've tried it I nearly lost about a dozen of my favorite acro's. Mine has to stay in 8.9 - 9.3 range. If the house gets closed up for summer for instance and the AC is running I have to slowly work my alkalinity up to 9.3. I have an airline that goes outside to my skimmer and I also have a CO2 reactor on my skimmer in order to keep a decent pH because my house is so tight.

My friend has the identical problem as you! He has started running higher alkalinities and it has helped solve his problem too. He has so much CO2 in his house that he actually gets CO2 errosion of the hard skeleton out from under the LPS coral polyps! He also has to run chaeto on a reverse daylight schedule to prevent the nightly dip in pH from turning his tank into a calcium reactor.

Yup me too on the chaeto and that is why I was so concerned about my huge ball of it dying from Vibrant! I don't believe mine as as bad as his if that's what's happening to his LPS skeletons, at least I don't think so... but yeah it's bad. People try to open my front door and think it's locked! It's just that the house is so tight there's a lot of suction keeping the door from opening if there isn't a window or door cracked somewhere else [emoji23] I've noticed that my corals also do best during the time of year that I'm able to open the house up. And all my parameters are more stable also

@prsnlty His is a combination of factors, he's got it all sealed up tight like a drum, it's not a large house (maybe 1600sq ft) and there are (in his words) "a whole family of mouth breathers" which equals 2 adult humans, 2 very active young children and 2 adult boxers. I kept telling everyone over there to "STOP BREATHING, YOU'RE KILLING THE CORALS!!!" :D

Sorry about that. I will see about updating our handles so that people don't have issues tagging us in the future. I am glad I was able to help. Hopefully you are enjoying the new controller and your corals will show their happiness. Nothing like seeing a stable tank thrive!

My tank has been enjoying a very stable 7.5 dKH since the middle of November!

I think that would probably be a good thing to bring up with others at CoralVue, you guys are losing out on a wonderful aspect of Reef2Reef, it can help keep you from missing stuff that might easily be overlooked, especially outside of your own forum. I'm sure that no one realized that when your names were created. But I can't tag you @Carlos@CoralVue like I can @NCreefguy (who frankly NEEDS a KHG :D).

I can already tell you the KHG has made me realize I was running low alkalinity consistently on my tank, and over the last few days have been slowly raising it by 0.1 dKH by using the KHG and now am at 7.4 dKH and there are visible improvements in color in several frags and I can already tell things appear happier. :)

I'm sure I speak for everyone else involved, so far, that we would love for you to share your experiences with the KHG too, you've been running it the longest of us!

It worked! My appologies Carlos! In the message system before it posts, you're names do not behave the same way as other user names. (Here's that operator error thing again... good grief I'm a mess). :D
