Lol... the sump is all 1/2" and it will be epoxied but it's not done yet.How thick is your wood? That sounds weird, but you get what I'm saying.
Ya 2 people can lay down in the tank but stacked it’s a 4 to 6 body trunk lol.Moving right along I see! Wish I had room for a larger tank! LOL, but probably a good thing I don't [emoji6]
I agree, lots of open areas will be great. I've been really tempted to throw quite a bit of my rock in the sump or at least whatever it will hold and do some re-aquascaping... I love all of the real estate area of the 4 x 6 tank. You could actually create several different type of Terrain/aquascapes within one systemYa 2 people can lay down in the tank but stacked it’s a 4 to 6 body trunk lol.
You know I don’t necessarily want to full all the space with rock work. I’m thinking of getting some Tonga branch rock and having them shout out so I can place corals on this.
Ya trying to plan that out. To of the rocks I have are huge and with corals on them. The two are 4 feet long. I’m sure I’ll figure it out.I agree, lots of open areas will be great. Thanks I appreciate it. Thanks for checking it out. This is a very cool build.
Nicely done.
Her is an explanation of the zones in a reef. The cryptic is generally the only one most people don’t have implemented in there tanks and the other ones just happen in a normal reef. I’m going for all around filtration and not many people talk about cryptic filtration but there are some very impressive reef tanks that use them.Hey joe, following along. You said you like questions, so here is one: what is the point of the cryptic/dark area in the sump? Have not read about that one before. Keep it up!
The silicone adheres very well to the epoxy that I’m using. All the wood the glass will seal to will be epoxied and any wood water touches. I will also be building my overflow and extended overflow branches out of wood as well. How are you bonding the glass to the wood? Just silicone?

I think I followed most of what you were saying there lol
This is a really interesting project, I never thought to use glass from an existing tank to make a new one. Essentially you can buy some cheap used tanks and make a 300-400 gallon and save potentially thousands. Very eye opening!
