Leather coral being closed up.

Hi I purchased this long polyp toadstool leather coral about 3 weeks ago, the first 2 weeks it was open and looking good. The last week it has been closed and I noticed in the center of the stalk it looks to be pinching itself? Can anyone tell me what is wrong? Thank you.
