My sinularia which I've had for a few years and is almost a foot across fully expanded seems to have some kind of recession on the stalk. There were some brown spots that easily came off with a light toothbrush scrubbing. When I look at old photos, it's there but much lower down on the stalk. It isn't drooping or closed up (but it is annoyed with the light scrubbing). Alk 8.0. Calc 400, nitrate ~10ppm, Po4 ~.1 (fighting some dinos so it's purposefully elevated) Any ideas? Terrible photo - my reef looks much brighter and warmer.

Is flow being impeded, have you cleaned wave makers?
Lighting lower?

I have a sinularia thats just about as big as yours, it has grown itself off the rock it was attached too, kind of fallen off because of the weight of it I figure. Now I need to re-pot it onto another rock. Anyway, is yours ok, is it leaning over, maybe something similar? Just a guess. good luck

I just went through something like this with my leather. It wasn't looking the greatest and had some brown patches on it. I did a 10 minute iodine dip. It took about a week but the brown is gone and its perked back up. No polyp extention yet but everything else looks good.

No leaning over. It's appears to be firmly anchored.
