Was purchased as H. melanurus but it has a lot more yellow/gold than other pictures I've seen. Has been difficult to get a clear picture.

I am in the same boat as you. I think we just have to wait a bit until she start to transition. See my wrasse’s pictures last page.

If you can get a better pic of the anal and caudal fin, that would help.
 
After looking further at OrionN's photo his just looks a little more mature than mine
 
I believe this is an early transitioning C. Plyei - correct?

Just picked this guy up and is in quarantine, having a hard time identifying, sorry for crappy pictures, tank doesn't have the greatest lighting and my phone is pretty old.
