Hi all. I am wondering what people use to control their multiple lights? I have an older 72” coralife aqualight. This has been modified and now has 6 plugins that need separate control.
3 plugs for the 3 halide ballasts
2 plugs for the 2 pair of t5’s
1 plug for night led’s
I honestly could put a multi outlet on to get this down to only 3 actual things that need separate timing but I don’t know if those could handle the 3 150w halides or the 2 pairs of 80w t5’s?
I’m wondering if anyone knows of a power strip that can control each individual outlet? Or do people just use multiple single outlet timers? Thanks in advance.

I have an Apex so the solution in my case would be a an Apex power bar .
For you maybe these smart power strips They do say 15A

Coralife has their own timer. Not sure if you seen it. Not sure about running the MH.

The strip has 8 plugs and a timer. 4 plugs are always on, 2 are yellow for daytime and 2 blue for night. The day and night work off the timer so you could use 1 for the t5 day and 1 for the night led.

I don’t think it will let you run the blue and yellow outlets at overlapping times. So there would be 2 more for the 3 MH. I can’t think of another timer without running a Controller

I guess it couldn't hurt observe the tungsten rating on a quality timer that controls the metal halides. This de-rates the timers a bit for incandescent bulbs due to inrush cold current. I would imagine three ballasts going off at once may also see a bit of a surge.

I wouldn't be against multiple single timers if I could keep the wires hidden/organized. This way you could stagger the metal halide start times by a few minutes.

The ultimate option would be to have an electrician wire in a nice intermatic wall timer, just switch the whole shebang on and off at once. I think they are good for up to 40A so overhead is not a concern.

Thank you all for your replies. I have looked at the coralife controller and the reviews are crap. The WiFi strip looks like a possible option. And I will definitely be looking into an intermatic wall timer. My step dad is pretty much an electrician seeing as he wired the entire house he built so he would be able to help me out. I have already ran 2 separate 15 amp wire and breakers from my breaker box to the area I have my tank set up, and have another two free spaces in my box. If need be I can always run another. Thanks again everyone.

Very easy to set up and schedule. I use them on tanks that are away from my GHL control center.

I could dump all my intermatic manual timers ( which get changed when bumped) and use a app on my phone to time the 2 different reef brite strips and 2 different ATI T5 channels?

They sure are tempting. As long as they have the usual approval ratings what bad can you really say about them at this point.

I see what you mean. On the last link one of the reviewers said the app you use is fee based.
Plus I see alot of lost connection issues.

LINGANZH Smart Power Strip Surge... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CXV3JH8?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I use these WiFi power strips to control everything. They work perfectly until the power goes out and they reset. But other than resetting if the power goes out they are incredible

Doesn’t happen with the Kasa strips have already tested this. Kasa is made by TP-link a big player is WiFi equipment.

There is no cost on the Kasa app wise and I have never had a reconnection issue with the WiFi. I have had to reset my WiFi from time to time and also update the router software and it still just works.
