I was hoping someone could please comment on my light schedule & PAR values. I’ve included information below that hopefully contains all the needed information so you all can provide feedback. If more is required please feel free to ask.
Tank Size: 80 gallons (4 feet long)
Corals: Mainly LPS (torches, hammers, & Goni’s) & some softies. May add some beginner SPS like a Green Bali Slimmer or similar.
Lights: Aquatic Life Hybrid Light Fixture Containing:
  • (3) Kessil A360
  • (4) T5 Bulbs Shown Below:
    • (2) Blue Plus, (1) Coral Plus, (1) True Actinic
Light Fixture Height Above Top of Water: 12”
Kessil Light Spread: One light is centered. The other 2 are spread 14” away from the centered light.
Average PAR Readings When T5s are on and intensity is 10%:
  • Top of the water column: 186
  • Middle of the water column: 153
  • On the sand: 118

Some questions would be:
  1. Is light schedule adequate?
  2. Do I need to revise the PAR values and if so how much?
  3. Are the T5s on for a long enough duration?
  4. Any issue with my T5 bulb selections?
  5. Any issue with my Kessil color selections?
  6. Any other suggestions are please welcomed.
I wasn’t sure if this post should be in the “Aquarium Lighting” or the “Reef Aquarium Discussion” forums. Please let me know if I need to move this to the “Aquarium Lighting” forum.

Thanks, Mike

Your PAR numbers are fine.

With respect to tweaking colors, in my experiences, the corals adjust to the light: Water circulation & nutrition are much more important. I go for 10,000 Kelvin color spectrum because that’s what I like to look at.

PS: This is 10,000 Kelvin
