I am doing a little rebuilding post-tank crash and lighting is one thing I think I want to change up. I have a 24" 60-gallon cube. It currently has a gen 3 (non-pro) radion on it, which obviously was working great, but did create a lot of shadows around the edges and on any SPS colony I had. I am thinking of upgrading to the new Ecotech gen 5 light, and am trying to decide if I should do the xr30, 2 xr15's, or either of these with a t5 hybrid setup. Anyone running something similar? I will be restocking with mostly acro's, but will probably keep some euphylia on the sandbed.

New is not always upgrading. Choose well. If you want to get into acropora again, then you will likely have the same shadowing issues unless you roll with some T5s.

The reason that people suggest a pair of 15s over a single 30 is that you can move them apart more if you need to... this can help with some coverage, but you will still have shadows. This is usually a good idea.
