Lightmeter: using a photigraphic flash light meter or phone apps...

Two questions:

1. Does anyone have experience in using a professional photographic flash light meter somehow to measure light levels in a tank. I have a Sekonic L-358 flashmaster, there should be some kind of conversion table to use it to measure PAR. Or at least to use it Thoughts?

2. There seems to be a few phone apps claiming to use the phone camera to measure PAR. E.g. Korona app (yes very ironic name in current times). Any thoughts?

have looked at the seneye but prefer using what I have if possible, and spending money on corals ;-)

You can use a phone app or a light meter to measure LUX, and then get an approximate PAR number by dividing by about 50 (although the number you divide by varies depending on the type of light and how blue you run it, e.g. could be in the range of 40ish to 60ish). There are a number of existing threads about that, search for e.g. "LUX meter".

Fantastic, thanks Larry. Will search some more. I searched for the wrong thing. That should work as I am really just looking for relative light intensity zones in my tank.
