Site is refreshed for next week, our 2 pod blends are always a great deal. 3 pod blend bottles will go fast, tigriopus pods are still limited from over harvesting. Products are moving faster every month, single strain bottles have a discount when you buy 4 or more. You'll get the best life span of cells in single strains versus a mix. The strains that struggle regardless are Rhodomonas, isochrysis and pavlova in the mix these strains won't have much nutrition value after 2-3 weeks. While the blend will stay alive in your fridge for longer than 1 month cell nutrition starts to take a hard dive after the month mark.

If you buying a blended phytoplankton that isn't coming cold, you are only buying one species. Our phytoblend can be customized to your needs if you want more of one strain versus another or if you are growing pods and want a diatom rich feed to promote better yields. While our cell density may change a little each week, by the end of this month that should be fixed. Our phytoblend is mixed, you won't scope a bottle to find it 90% nanno or chlorella.

New labels are made on Fritz 8 ounce bottles. Each bottle now includes the expiration date and batch number. You can find 8 ounce, 16 ounce on the site, you can also request larger bottles to fit your needs.

Single strains are still available for the week. By the end of March the site should be updated on single strains to ship Mondays and Wednesdays. This week all single strains are still on the site, there is one 16 ounce bottle of Isochrysis galbana up for grabs. Tomorrow evening the site will be updated with 6 bottles for Monday. Single strains for culturing come from 1 gallon wide mason jars, single strains for feeding come from our 6.5 gallon carboys that get harvested into a 5 gallon jug and then refrigerated.
Culture strains come with a 3 day guarantee, if something happens a new bottle will get shipped out at no cost. Rhodomonas salina and Isochrysis galbana are ones that have issues from time to time with shipping.

There is still some items on the site for the week. While limited on Phytoblend there are plenty of single strains for culturing this week left.

Our FREE shipping minimum will also increase to $50 on April 1st for all Phytoplankton, Rotifer and Copepod orders. Get your orders in by March 31st to avoid the $20 shipping fee on orders under $49.99 starting on the first. Dry good orders are still being shipped for FREE above $40.00 and a flat $7 on orders under $39.99.

Next week there are some new blends coming to the site, our Podblend and Rotiblend mix of phytoplanktons will go live. These are mixes that will give you the best growth on each species Apocyclops, tisbe and tigrio copepods and our rotifers.

New videos are coming along on Instagram, you'll be able to see updates there and a new walkthrough of each week is coming of how our phytoplanktons look each week, plus sometime soon, I'll show off how each strain is bottled and chilled before being mixed into our phytoblend. Each species is mixed Monday-Wednesday and kept as a single strain until then.

Tons of single phytoplankton species are left for the week. Porphyridium and rhodomonas lens can ship tomorrow. Single strain species now ship Monday & Wednesday. 40, 1 gallon cultures are grown each week currently. 11 species are offered in single strains for culture, that number should be bumped up to 13-14 by end of the month.

Here's a little clarification on feeding strains vs culture strains.

Feeding strains are harvested in a clean container and bottled in 1 gallon jugs and held until needed. These are grown in a 6.5 gallon carboy, harvested and run through a filter to remove any large particles. Each strain has its own set of equipment that gets sterilized before harvesting each day.

Culture strains have sterile equipment for each jar that is used. Jars are not combined and they are bottle only by myself. These bottles get sent out before hitting the fridge to cool down and go dormant. This is extremely important for Isochrysis galbana. There is significant more work in culture strains vs feeding strains for cleanup and sterilization.

Here's a picture of our Rhodomonas harvest this morning before hitting the fridge. No phytoplankton is held onto for the following week. Harvesting happens Monday-Wednesday there are some strains that only get harvested Monday and Wednesday each week. If you order on a Wednesday you will get phytoplankton from the last harvest to ensure the freshest phytoplankton gets sent out. Each and every jug is marked and only holds that phytoplankton before being rinsed out at the end of the week.

Rhodomonas lens seems to be the darkest red, also slightly easier to culture than salina.
