They've increased prices recently as well. A Orangback Wrasse that was typically $69 (slightly overpriced go begin with) is now $89. They're really making the decision to shop locally easier.

Normally I defend LA/DD but having a hard time this time. When they started the credit versus refund they only gave a few months to use that credit. Enough people complained and that was changed to a full year. Maybe with all the complaints now and lost revenue they will remove some of these new charges and go back to being every ones favorite online retailer? ?

Yea, the box charge is the last straw for me. I’ve spent thousands with them over the last couple years but I’m done at this point. Disappointing because I like checking out the the SPS colonies every day on the divers den update but now I won’t bother looking anymore.

Anyone else notice some of expert only fish on Divers Den only come with an arrive alive only guarantee? Noticed it the other day on a Bipartus leopard wrasse. Box charge is showing on a $400+ order on my end as well.

If that’s true then it takes away the only benefit for paying the higher divers den prices. saltwaterfish.com still does $79 free shipping and a 14 day guarantee.

I never got the box fee thing, just build it into your prices that way it doesnt cause people to be like what the heck . I mean your business model is to ship aquatic livestock to people , you didnt just realize wow I should charge people to box it . In the end , the consumer will pay more if it's more black and white ... this fish is$ 44 versus 39 .

I've ordered my frozen food from them for a while. Prices were a little cheaper but shipping was $19.99.
They moved the shipping to $29.99.
I'll just order from Brs now and get some reward points with it. 10x reward on the order I just placed.

to be somewhat fair, last time i did an order through them i got stuff from LA, DD, and ORA so they had to overnight 3 packages from 3 different places and my order was only $99, then discounted by whatever the discount was lol. so they probably got tired of people like me where they definitely lost money on that one, especially when one of the fish died in QT

but that said, this makes me want to go buy fish at my lfs and just wing it without the guarantee unless it's an expensive fish

Yeah, but they raised their prices a few months back and most of their prices are higher than LA/DD. On top of that you have a 9.99 packing fee, some fee to get your order by 10:30 am...I fell like I'm ready my phone bill with all the charges.

I think it would be better for them to sell the livestock cheap and charge real shipping. Maybe we are too spoiled from amazon. Lol.

I loved Live Aquaria and would check DD daily to buy things I didn't need. I don't even look anymore.... I didn't mind the 150 free ship or credit or photos but now a box fee and not everything has a guarantee...meh. I have been shopping there for many many years long before Petco bought them and recommend them to others but I am over it now. There are other options I would rather use.

Their prices are still usually more than LA. And with fewer variety that I want in fish. I'll still shop at LA. $10 box fee is no biggie. But the no gurantee on expert only fish.... now that's worrisome.

They're getting rid of all the things that made them more appealing than shopping local. DOA guarantee, competitive pricing, monthly discounts etc. They're leaving the consumer no reason to choose them over the LFS. Prices have gone up 10% or so across the board on fish and coral within the last month and now they aren't offering cash refunds for DOA or specimens dying within 14 days? That's what set them apart. Unfortunate.

To be honest, I've done this too. And they ship fw plants from IL. But that's what they built the business doing so I'm guessing they could continue that way if they wanted. I really didn't have a problem with the prices increasing, credit vs. refund, no coupon codes or even no rewards. Raising the Free shipping and the box charge PLUS doing all the other things (all within a couple months) is what's going to stop me from using them. I've also had a problem with almost every order lately, wrong items, dead plants, DOA fish etc. (this order I got 5 empty shells with no hermits in them) but it was still worth it. Not anymore. It's not the same company I liked so much and that's a shame.
