I have a 4-5 inch colony that I started from a frag 2 years ago. I have fragged it a few times for friends though.

My colony is about the same size as Mark's. I started with a tiny frag about
2 1/2 years ago. Here is an older pic.

I got a tiny < 1" 20K leagues lokani frag that hasn't really grown much at all, it's still in the encrusting stage and I've had it for 4-6 months. All my other sps grow faster than this, even my oregon tort. Not sure if the 30K leagues lokani grows faster or not as I don't have it yet.

My 20k took forever to grow into a colony. I had it for 2.5 years until it was a considerable colony. It seems that when I frag it, it grows faster though.

I have a purple lokani from Kevin Kohen/LiveAquaria. It grew from a frag seen at the back of the rack to a 4" colony in a year and a half...

LOL my 20 k grows much faster than my 30 k.
I guess it just depends on each indvidual system.
perhaps you have them mixed up? I've never heard anyone report that their 20k was a fast grower, let alone faster than the 30k; which is a weed when it get's going IME.

for best color, you need the bluest 20K halide bulb you can get, and put the coral as high as possible. Mine is hammered with light from a 400w Helios 20K bulb. Also, I have noticed that drops in alk or mag tend to dull the colors and this coral. It is one of my "dipstick corals" that I can use just by looking at them to tell me if I need a water change.

Yep, 20k is a super slow grower. I have one in my tank for 2yrs now from a 1/2" frag. Had it under overdriven t5's for 1.5yrs and it didn't grow a mm. I switched out to 250w mh's and its grown more in the last few mths then it did the previous 1.5yrs. Its the only sps that wouldn't grow well under t5's i've had.
