lonely clown fish syndrom

is there such a thing as lonely clown fish syndrom? I had a bonded pair of clown fish I got in a trade about a year ago, they where best buds, and slept under a large green hairy mushroom every night, would eat from your hand etc etc all the kids had to go see nemo and marlin etc etc, you get the picture, after a midnight trip through the overflow and into the sump getting stuck in the filter pad and deceasing to exist in this world as we no it, sad to say, marlin is no longer with us, my grandson is distrought and can't understand why he can't see marlin blah blah wimper cry etc, hey I kinda miss the fish too here, any way, it apears that nemo is not quite content after feeding, and cutting off the main lights with just the atintics going, he is swimming around the tank, looking in every nook and craney for marlin, instead of going under the big hairy green mushroom like always, should I get another clown fish of similer size? or just wait it out and let him get over it, ( the fish not the grandson) just looking for a little advise

i lost my clowns mate about 6 months ago, and the female i have left acted the same for about a week and then just went back to normal, i have yet to add another mate. waiting intill i upgrade tanks to put them both in at once

If you do add a new one go smaller. He will be the male. Just in case the one you have has already turned.

turned? it did a flip, jumped the high jump and went down the overflow he gone.. lol, the one that is left is the small one so you saying if I put a smaller one in the sex of the larger one will turn into a female? I is a little confused?

that is correct all start as male one will become dominant female normally the large one. male stays smaller. so if you dont know if the male or the female jumped buy a smaller one and let the dominant one turn to a female.

stopped by aqurium imports today, looked for a buddy for the lonsome clown, they has several pairs for 50 per pair no singles. he suggested it would be hard to bring in another and suggested either moving it to another tank or finding a new home, and then getting a pair, reason is they would do better right from the start. any body else had any luck with this? or should I just let it be and see what happens?

at 2am all the girls left are pretty lol, match the species and get a really small one, nature will take care of the rest, a little Barry White and your good

I had to replace one of my clowns, I bought one off ebay and they act like they have been together from birth. I agree with getting a smaller one to add.
