Looking for an ID

These were labeled as millepora, but I’m thinking that’s not quite right. Anyone have an opinion on what they may be? Thanks!

Those seem like they’re an encrusting type and these all have branches. They’re all well encrusted, but look like they came from a stick.

That’s an acro, and I wouldn’t rule out Millepora but until you get fresh growth going it’s going to be about impossible to come up with a definitive ID. Nice piece nonetheless.

Thanks, I’ve been really enjoying watching the frags change from the brown they were given to me in to the dark green they’re developing. Once I get some growth I’ll post back with a photo! They’ve only been in the tank about month, so might be awhile.

Has a digitata look to it. The corallites don't match a millipora.

OP, do the polyps on the branch portion have one tentacle longer and lighter colored than all the rest on each polyp?

Agreed with above. Digi is my first thought, but there are other monti species that plate and branch, but they often have those full polyps.My guess is a monti species.

I can try to get better photos this weekend when I see the tank. I’m at school for the week and don’t have access to it. I was able to dig up a couple other photos on my phone that could possibly be of use. There *sort of* seems to be a longer piece to the polyp, but I’d have to really study them this weekend to confirm.

In the second photo you can see the extended polyps at the very tip of the stick. Again, I’ll really look at it and take better photos Friday.

I’m still going to go with a Mille, my sunset Mille looked exactly like that until the coralites started getting their signature chainmail structure. We will see I guess lol, high light and flow either way haha.

The top down adds more structure, something digis dont necessarily have. The top down def changes things, might go with acro over monti just because of the growth pattern, digis dont grow a point like whats shown in the top down pic.

Pic one is a digi, matches the polyps..

Pic 2 is a millie, polyps kinda match but structure does.

The polyps do look very similar to the digitata. I wonder if maybe given more time the “beehive” look on the typical millepora body will show through?

Probably. Im guessing as it grows the coralites will become more pronounced.
