Looking for photosynthetic sponges, etc.

I was wondering how many out there have photosynthetic sponges, or easier to keep non photosynthetic sponges/see squirts, etc. that they would be interested in trading. I've got a bright blue Haliclona sp. photosynthetic sponge that has grown from a small fingernail sized piece to what you see in the picture in about a year and a half. I'd cut a frag for a trade, though. I know there are several different photosynthetics out there, and would love to have a few more. I wouldn't turn my nose up at non photosynthetics, if they are interesting/semi hardy.

Photosynthetic sponge??? Is there such a thing? I thought all poriferans were filter-feeders by definition

I know they all benefit from filter feeding, but there are some photosynthetic sponges out there. Haliclona are the most mentioned. I feed my fish in that tank rarely (at most, twice a week, generally more like once every two weeks or so), so very little food is put in the tank. It is bare bottom and there is detritus on the bottom, but I haven't done much else. I made a few frags a few weeks ago and they are looking good so far. I've got them under decent light to see if I can speed up the growth rate.

That’s super cool they have a blue plating sponge at my lfs looks like a monti how it plates out would you be willing to trade for that? If be happy to grab some for a trade

Definitely. Bluezoo has them sometimes. I had a piece years ago that did reasonably well but it was in a seahorse tank and eventually algae took over.

I was hoping that was it. I recently got a frag of it and can't wait til it grows out.

On the topic of photosynthetic sponges, how much would you sell a piece of the black sponge for? Do they require any special care?

Late response for a late post, but are you still willing to frag and trade and/or sell this sponge? I'm deeply interested in adding this to my reef tank.
