Hi All,

This is my first post here and I wanted to show everyone where I am currently in my build and allow you to follow along as I finish it out. I hope to get a lot of great advice from you all! My son (10) has really gotten into this hobby and has started his own tank that he is running (29g BioCube) and is VERY interested in fragging and making some trades and side money. We have spent time with some local LFS showing him the ropes on how to frag properly. He cant wait to get this build up and going. Our only hurdle is time and getting Mom/Wife on board on where in the house we can put it lol.

Our thoughts are to have maybe 2/3s of the bottom covered with elevated egg crate, 1/3 with some live rock. This will assist in filtration, give us an area to build some islands, grow out some colonies, etc and allow it to be a suitable home for utility fish (small tang, blenny, wrasse, etc).

See pics before for our progress thus far. We still have to drill the tank, paint the back wall black, put it on the stand and plumb it in.

Equipment purchased thus far:

Zoomed Lowboy Frag tank
20g long tank (Petco $1/gal, will be used for sump)
10g (for ATO resevoir)
JaxRacks sump kit for the 20L
JaxRacks 750gph overflow box
2 AI Hydra 26 HDs
Reef Octopus 110 INT Skimmer
SmartMicro ATO
Life Guard Aquatics Quiet One Pro 3000 (758 gph) return pump
BRS 200w Titanium Heater and controller
Black egg crate
Nobel Reef orange 3D printed 1" egg crate legs
Textured black ABS sheets for bottom
Acke LED grow light
Icecap gyre 2k wave maker
BRS mesh screen kit
Live Rock
Plumbing, diamond drill bits, 1" overflow, 3/4" return

Sump Build Progress:

Note there is a Bubble Magus skimmer in the pic but I have since switched to a Reef Octopus. I used some scrap cuts off the baffle kit to make two lips in the bubble wall so that I could make an egg crate shelf for any additional media I may wish to add.

Stand build progress:

I have painted it with black, high gloss, oil based paint. Waiting for it to cure then spraying it with clear enamel for additional protection before adding the tank, sump, and ATO res
