Softies still doing fine with everything that has happened? Are SPS still growing or just looking good? What kind of lighting and how old? Did you get the ICP results back?
I don't really have any softies aside from zoas, and those are doing fine. SPS are growing, yes, and have good color. I did order the ICP and had really nothing out of the ordinary. Ill try to take a snapshot of the results.

I also have a couple scolys that receded around the edges but they’re holding their own. One was a piece I had cut, the other was a saved piece from vendor. An urchin was eating the vendor piece, it has been removed. Waiting to see if that piece rebounds well.
Like I mentioned before, most of these pieces I've had for months, if not years. Scolys for years, large raptors peace favia for almost 10 years, etc. The other smaller pieces I've had for months, have encrusted the plugs and almost in all instances the rereading starts from the edges and works its way in all around like a ring.

Also have a big rock encrusted in meteor shower cephastrea and that really too a hit. And that was a really hardy coral. In many instances, on the cephastrea, you can see the flesh just lift off the skeleton and flap in the current.

So far....my euphillia colonies at the upper parts of the tank have not been affected, same for some other chalices like my space invader or Easter egg chalice. Almost seems like its something that the corals "catch" and then start declining, that's why I don't feel its a water chemistry issue, but who knows.

I have this issue with acans In my main tank. They do well in my frag tank. All other corals are doing well I my Dt except for acans. Similar par levels. Same with water chemistry. I can’t figure it out although I haven’t done an icp. Only other difference is my frag tank has been up and running for 10 years while the display about 7 months now

Maybe the Phosphates, test shows high
While I would agree sometimes high phosphates can lead to issues...the phosphates from icp are showing low. However with my hanna they are showing a little high, say 0.14ppb when last checked. But that would not make sense if my sps are doing fine but the lps are suffering. Lps tend to like higher nutrients as is.

What fish and inverts do you have? I have had peppermint shrimp go rogue before. Also currently have a “reef safe” Molly Miller blenny that has snacked on duncan corals, and acans. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem like there’s any guarantee live stock won’t go after some coral in these systems…

I'm pretty sure it's not fish or invert predation. I've watched the tank closely. I have a yellow tang, and mostly just fairy wrasses, leopards, and a this. And no shrimp or crabs.

But how the flesh it eroding it looks like a contaminant or viral or bacterial thing. Ill post pics soon when the white lights come on.

Do you have a par meter? How old are these lights? I don't know how led lights fail. Is it all or nothing or do they fade like metal halide where distant corals get much less light than close up? I forgot the relationship. Something like the square of the distance?

I do have a par meter and the numbers are fine, they range from 150ish on the bottom to over 800 in some places on the top. Running a mix of 2x250watt halides, 3 dsuny led modules and 2 strips of reef brites. The leds are mainly for blue supplementation. The halides give me the bulk of the whites.

From the photos, I'm seeing RTN. This is caused by issues with tank chemistry. Double check your ALK and Calcium again.

This isn't something caused by lighting or flow.

Also, consider dosing Kalk.

How is the air quality in your home?
I had an aquarium in my laundry room / furnace room and thought the issue was chemicals aerosol or lint from cleaning the dryer screen. I moved it out of the laundry room and seen an immediate improvement. I believe the issue was low air quality from the furnace room. I’m in the Midwest and colder weather means more furnace time and lower air quality.
Another thing cold be aerosol from house hold chemicals or candles being burned in the home.

My phosphates were .09 on last test using Hanna low range desktop model. My N03 is .5, Flow might be a contributing factor.

Do you carbon dose? When I did in the past, many of my LPS would show tissue recession as I starved them from higher PO4 levels to the lower PO4 levels.

Interesting, what Alk, N03and phosphate level did you run?

When my LPS did this, high PO4 was the cause. Once I added a GFO reactor, those that survived recovered.
