My Ai Hydra 52HD were on 87 watts and I didn’t acclimate them and put it to 110 watts because I thought they needed more light.

I ordered a par meter that’s coming in 2 days, but none of my parameters changed since this started happening. I changed the light settings like 2 days ago and this happened almost instantly. I noticed it when the lights turned off.

I will get a full rundown on my parameters right now. I will do the tests and post. I have other LPS but it seems like these 2 in particular got affected and they are right next to each other.

I turned my lights down to 26 watts until my Par Meter comes so I can find out exactly what par was hitting those corals at that max setting.

hi, acans for sure lower light ,favia ,and acan, mod flow ,moderate light..:)
Agree, acan belongs on or near sand. Low light.
The rest moderate.
Par meter will help. But I would put your light intensity where you want it and move the coral accordingly. That way you can keep whatever you want in the future.

Thank you so much. Sounds like the perfect solution because I wanted to have SPS corals.

Anyway, I got my parameter results all fresh and done right now.

Salinity 1.026
Ph 8.4 (just dosed soda ash not too long ago)
Alk 10.8dkh
Cal 455ppm
Mag 1395ppm
Nitrates 5ppm
Phosphates 0.113ppm

Thats the thing about Leds. A Par meter really is a useful tool. At least for me it is. Glad you’re getting your hands on one. There’s really know way to just eyeball things. Especially with how powerful lights are these days. Yeah, you might spend 500$ on one, but that’s usually cheaper than frying a bunch of coral!!! Lol. Sorry about your coral :( Favia and Favites definitely lower light. Can tolerate
moderate-ish light as well. Acans like the lower end on light also. I have two of the exactsame Favia. One in about 60 par and the other in about 130.. The one in lower par has much deeper/richer colors Compared to the one in higher par. Looking at the tank visually, you’d never know there was a difference in Par basing it off the “brightness“ of the tank.

Can I ask for an opinion? I moved all the low light corals to a new spot together but this rock is vertical and it seems like they are mostly under shadows. I have to wait until my par meter comes, but is it possible there’s enough par under here or no way?

I think the corals will be fine there until you get a par meter. Then you can take measurements and see what you’re getting. You see I have quite a few corals mounted vertically. The torch on that far left rock is about 5 times this size now. The Dragon Soul below it gets very, very little light. It’s been doing fine like this for over a year. Takes a lot longer to kill a coral from low light than high light. I think they’ll be fine for a few days like I said.

Par shmar. Ppl run their tanks all blue anyways. Too dim imo. The blue tanks. Lol.
Usually the coral from these tanks is bleached anyways from the get go.
Add some light ppl. Lol
D
That’s hilarious!!!! I do like running the tank on a blue schedule late night. Rest of the day is more like this. Lol!!! Don’t think I could handle a blue tank all the time. Some like it, but not my taste.
