State of emergency was issued for SC. Hopefully we get rain and some winds. I’ve a large tree outside my front door, several to the side. All of which if they come down they’ll destroy the car/ house/ tanks. Daughters place across from us is the same, trees all around.

A friend came yesterday with an air compressor an airbrush a stand for the 20 long and two jars of fish. So now my four pallifina are about ten, and my rubra are three. Stand is nice. If Atlas swallows he will be moved this weekend. Otherwise I’ll have a stand in front of the pallifina for about a month lol

A couple of the pallis are skinny, and I’m not quite sure if Atlas is still holding. Going by his fat belly, well he’s a chubby boy so that’s not a tell tale sign. The light color on his lower jaw usually occurs when holding but I don’t see the tell tale buccal pouch bulge.

Five years ago, the 70.2 was delivered, and four years ago the 35.2 was delivered :) Hard to believe I’ve had these tanks this long.

We are getting lots of rain from the storm, but otherwise everything has been ok. Peer still in. Fixing to make some chilli for supper.

Sorry for the lack of posting yesterday. We are in upstate SC. The storm hit us pretty hard. However, we are safe. No trees down in our yard that I’ve seen and only a small dent in the car. Our power has been off for 24 hours. We don’t have backup power.

So far this morning I’ve noticed one of the rock flowers is on the move up the glass. So are the snails. Clowns didn’t sleep in their barnacle. They are out but clearly stressed. Goby and dottyback are hiding, hopefully.

Atlas swallowed but he looks good and unbothered, as does Big mama. Pallifina, rubra, albis and almost all the others seem ok. The alien with the sinking issue however looks pale.

Our area is out of gas, and the power companies have estimated it could take two to three weeks to be restored.

Sorry to hear,do you have any battery powered air pumps ?
as soon as you can order a couple of Bubble Buddys from amzon /walmart ,5$ each ,
until then keep tanks aerated by pulling a bowl of water out and pouring back in through a colander as often as you can, sump too,
hope power is back on asap...

Sadly nowhere has any air pumps. Walmart has been sold out for some time ( mom works over near that dept). And currently no one can get to us. So it’ll be quite some time.

I found Flotsam (dottyback) and she seems ok for the most part. She’s in the barnacle, but I held the flashlight on her long enough to get her to move.

Sideshow Bob is at the surface head down and sometimes a bit twitchy. Selma is mid level. I have been using a cup to kinda stir minus a colander but that’s a great idea. I have a metal strainer (no actual colander) so will see if that will work a little better.

The largest nem is halfway up the glass. Small one still at the sand bed.

How you doing down there Bev ?
I’m ok. My reef is actively dying though. Starfish perished, clowns aren’t looking great. They’re stressed. One of the rock flowers is off the glass on the sand. Not even trying to attach any longer. The smaller one is still on the glass but also not looking great

Made it to Walmart earlier and they had one battery pump. I bought it but idk if it’ll be soon enough.

Still no power. Had to babysit today so can’t look into the tank til this afternoon.

Didn’t have time to look before I left, too dark and couldn’t find the flashlight. My phone was almost dead. Charged via car and grabbed as I headed across.

sorry for not updating y’all with what’s going on. My data has been a bit edgy since that’s what I’ve been using since power went out.

So Monday about 3:30 power was restored. I was on the way home from the kiddos house at the time. Internets still down which affects some of my light timers. So manual control for now on some. As far as the tanks go:

Pallifina who are currently in the 70- zero losses. They were outside over the summer with zero water flow though so not a shock.

Ten gallon with the macs- zero losses but Atlas didn’t hold probably due to the noises and banging on the outside wall. Their getting prepped for the 20 long this weekend.

All the other bettas also fared well. The only one who seems overly bothered is the alien with the swim bladder issue. He’s getting moved to the bedroom tank this weekend though so hope he perks up.

The reef, I am in shock. It’s a good shock. Sideshow Bob and Selma have both recovered from stress and are back to normal. Flotsam(dottyback) is still flighty but he’s also out and eager for food. Jetsam (goby) had me worried because I didn’t see her Monday or most of yesterday. But she did come out finally. The nem who was a ball on the sand went back on the glass and yesterday evening attached back under the sand. The small one was still up high. Toadstool opened and the Lepto or whatever looks rough but had color. So I’ll dose some AB+. The strange thing is I guess the starfish was being as dramatic as I because I didn’t get a chance to fish it out. I saw it going (very slowly) under the sand. All in all I don’t think I actually lost anyone.

My ATO has been having fits though, as has my coffee pot. The storm killed my stove and my daughters too. Fish food needs replaced and people food as well. Neither of which I actually have the funds yet. Our last car payment is due (late) and we are going to be overcharged because we have had to try and eat this past week.

But I’m thankful that we are all still here. We will figure it out.

I’m planning to tear down at least two tanks this weekend, and this will get at least one light completely off as well as pumps and a heater.

Here’s some pics of the pallifina and the reef which (since this one isn’t my Lucky tank, I’m dubbing “overdrama mama”. lol. All pics taken with orphek lense, even pallifina because the lights still blue.

Flooding seems minimal, and a lot of the roads are cleared. Still lots of spots without power all around. Hubbs works at Little Caesars and since they got power on Saturday, he’s been quite busy. There is still a lot of stores missing perishables and of course a gas and toiletries shortage.
