So I know I have ostreopsis. But I don’t know what the first one is, nor the big ole glob. But I also discovered a lot of spirulina algae.

I’m not sure which to try to tackle first. I’ve read the spirulina only reacts to chemiclean or the like but it also comes back within a few months many times. And the UV has no effect on that. The other type of dino I’m can’t tell if it’s the one needing the silicate or what.

Dose silicates. You can get them from Loudwolf. Turn off uv it does nothing for that kind and increase bacteria via MB 7 to out compete it. Also if you have no po or ni dose those as well. I had them and beat them in about 2 months. There is a great resource online macs dinoflagellates page.

Alright alright so since I had the balance via Amazon GC still I spent it on a few things and I hope I grabbed the right stuff.

Of course after the fact Mac’s said to fight the ostreopsis first with UV but honestly I see more of the spirulina. Once it all arrives I’ll start dosing the microbacter 7 and stuff once more.

Sadly my zoas have all but been smothered. There’s an aiptasia on that rock now. I may just grab a small tank to stick that rock on and when I can find a way to kill the pest I’ll take care of it.

Well, well, well, Beverly... I do not know what happened because I am fairly sure I used to follow your thread. But that, was like, years ago. Plus, I am relying on my memory which has been known to be suspect.

I will admit that I am not going to go back to page 1 to catch up. I may, however, scroll back a number pf pages to see more recent happenings. This way, I'll have a better idea of how to give you a hard time, er, um, I mean support you.

So, I'm aboard now and you're stuck with me.

The silicates, chemiclean and salt all arrived so I started the treatment. Daily addition of silicates and microbacter, and today is the 20% change. It’s slow going as always and almost done.

Things look much better. I do have hair algae growing, which I’d much rather have that than the other stuff.

Well I hoped to have put these up earlier but on the way from turning the hose off I tripped and banged my knees and wrist up a bit. Whoops. Pretty sore but did grab a couple shots. Of the tank not my leggies

Anyways the plan is I’m doing three rounds of the chemi clean for the spirulina. I’ll see about more hermits on the algae and possibly a sand sifting goby. Maybe this will give me enough stock to be balanced but not over stocked. I know I’m quite under currently.

My knee hurts so I’m going to bed.

Looks decent today. Did the second round of chemiclean. Hoping three rounds will be enough. Last thing to work on is a UV, but that has to wait for a bit. Maybe keeping the cyano at bay and making sure there’s some nitrates and phosphates will help curb the growth of that.

I’m not sure how long to add silicates.

So no spirulina that I noticed. However a ton of Dino’s. I didn’t see any movements though. I have zero UV going so the fact the ostreopsis isn’t going nuts is strange but also a blessing. I left the slide and figured I’d give it a bit and relook just in case.

Slow. I still haven’t been able to get a UV so the ostreopsis is managed at best. Removing floaty bits daily. It’ll be some time before I can afford the sterilizer ( had some things fall through)

But with the cyano gone it does look a bit better :) and I think I have some diatoms showing up as well which is fantastic.

One of my large turbo snails passed. Or at least I think. It was in its back so I flipped it. And it has yet to move.

Daily dosing of the silicates and microbacter, as well as pulling the dinos from the overflow grates. I’ve been sick and sore since I fell the other week, this thing with extreme stomach aching. I told Hubbs he is lucky o was able to do laundry. In the midst of this, I lost my old female pallifina. :( ImBloo is still going strong. I have no clue her actual age; she was wild caught and passed around to a few keepers before she came to me.

Also, anyone know how to disassemble a Tunze pump? The blue ones. I’m having an error beep on the 5017 and flipping the pump over it seems the impeller is a bit tight. I’d very much like to get it going again, simply because it is quite handy on the pallifinas tank. If not I’ll go manual adding again, no biggie. But I don’t want to pry when I should twist, and I’m obviously not holding my mouth right as I poke and prod. This is the lights I’m getting.

Raining today so should hopefully help relieve some of the built up pressure in the air. Fish seem excited about it lol. Nests from the boys and flirting from Bloo. I’m going to try and trudge through a skimmer cleaning today, and do some wiping down of a few things as well.

Also probably. Will I move it? Probably not. It’s been here for awhile now and it’s finally all puffed out and seems to want to grow. I’ll let it cover the overflow if it wants and just trip it when it gets to the weir teeth. For now it’s happy so I’m happy.

I have not pulled them as I figured the tiny critters can eat them or at least they can add to the bacteria food. Sigh. I’ve had them for quite some time and have no idea their life spans. But the coralline on the shells have always been so nice to look at. I’ll leave the shells as decor as well.

I believe the predominant dino is the large cell. I’ll have to look once more. The sand bed stays pretty decent and most of the issue is on the macro and the hair algae as well as the wave maker. I clean that thing off every other day it seems.

I still have the aiptasia too and at this point if it’s a survivor I don’t mind XD
