Recently purchased a Aquatop SLR-48 which are working great for coral growth until i stack an SLA-48 for 3 actinics and one 10k. I would like to get some sort of lunar/moon lighting in the tank so that it doesnt go dark instantly but has a sort of transition. What are my options for lunar lights that work well? Should i use blue, white, or a mixture?

Ive got a 72gal bow front.

Well, moonlight is quite white like sunlight but only .5-1 lux in brightness. People typically use actinic blues (~450nm) for the cool factor. It shouldn't take more than 1-5 watts, depending on your tank.

Check out this long-exposure photograph of moonlight from the Wikipedia page linked above:

That looks a lot like daylight to me. :)

FWIW, one nice thing about my Maxspect Razor (or any fixture built like it) is that I can choose to have either the white or blue channel be the nightlight just by running the preferred channel at minimum intensity. (I actually keep a blue:white blend through lights-out cuz it looks nice too.)

Hope this helps!

So i would be better with white lunar lights then. Recommend any stand-alone lunar lights or just any that are out there that arent too bright?
