lyretail anthias

so i just bought a female lyretail which is my first anthia for now but iv done my research and know that they switch sex in the absence of a male and was wondering how long does it take will i be able to see the process or will it be to gradual? Also later on will i be able to safetly add 2 or 3 females to the tank once this one turns male? thanks

From what I've seen, the female begins to turn male within three weeks but takes a a couple of months to fully turn; as long as you don't wait too long to add the other female, you should be fine.
