Not specifically reef related... I keep a freshwater tank in my office - It's a lot easier than having another reef at work. The centerpiece of that tank is a Crowntail Betta pair. I like having biodiversity in my tanks, but my experience with Macros is that they just get eaten. (not always a bad thing) I didn't have any plants in the FW tank, real or fake - but the fish have been doing quite well and looked very happy. On a whim, I bought some Java Fern and added it to the tank yesterday. HOLY COW! It was like watching a clown bond with an anemone... Lesson learned - whether it be salt water, fresh water, reef or fish only - the closer we come to duplicating a natural habitat the happier our finned friends will be!
