With so many good ideas on R2R to follow and since setting up the new tank from scratch I really had no excuse not to do a tidy job .

There's a million reason why it makes sense to just get it nice and tidy from the get go, easy of maintenance, safety, replacing parts, even just turning off 1 item. And if course who doesn't like to see a nice tidy picture.

I used cable raceway that I purchased locally but I've added an amazon link to a similar product.

Credit where its due but I cannot for the life of my remember who I got this idea from as I've been using this for years now. But Thnx to that man

With the lighting cables I was lucky enough to be able to hide them inside the extruded aluminium diy light rack.

And, the last pic is what the cat likes to do when I like to play with cables

I have my electronics mouted on a board. Where it doesnt get saltwater on them. The wires are in a pile under it. When I see a thread like this, it makes me wanna organize the wires. Then I think of something else to do. Shut the doors. Out of sight, out of mind.

This one is just standard white electrical conduit that I picked up from the dollor store locally. You can find them at any home emprovment store usually though. I'm sure home depot has these.

I definitely care about cord management & I actually got my inspiration from right here on an older thread on R2R. Instead of zip ties I use Velcro to wrap wires Incase I ever need to move something.

This is what I like about this site!
This thread has reminded me I need to do something.
10 months in and I still dont have the black plexiglass magnetic panels installed yet on my welded stand.
My co2 tank and regulator are in a cabinet with powerhead controllers and power outlets.
Alot of good wire management ideas I am going to use on my system soon to get rid of the spaghetti look lol.
I may even hook up my Apex lol!
Thanks for the reminder thread Rev!

I can't stand the look of "display sumps" so I have no need to be super clean with hiding cords as others have mentioned it makes fixing and moving things around a royal pain. I do zip tie them off and route them cleanly but I want my cords accessible so I hide them behind panels. Against the back wall under my tank all my apex power bars are mounted to the wall with everything labeled and zipped. Cords that do not get moved regularly go in cable guides against the wall. No wires on the floor.

In wall is the only way i'll go with my tanks as I have to have a fish room. I do not want a single cord and when I see cabinets bigger than the tank itself displaying all the gear it just looks kinda strange and out of place to me.

Fish room or bust. :)

I dont care how ugly mine is altho I try to carry basic mechanical and civil engineering concepts over to the hobby by maximizing space to its utmost efficiency with quality over quantity in the matter.

This is about as organized as I’m going to get. The cords are wrapped and I have a few open channel things to organize some, but it’s not the “Pimp my Sump” level of some of you guys.

With more people being at home more than normal I'm sure we're all checking things off the aquarium to do list! One thing I'm not the greatest at and something I have been putting off is making the cables and cords from my reef tank look better. Some people don't really care how it looks and some people want it as tidy as possible! Let's talk about that today!

1. Are you someone who cares what the cords and cables look like around your reef tank?

2. Do you have any useful cord managing tips for those of us who are not that great? Maybe share some product links to help us?

BONUS: SHARE a photo of your cable management so we can be inspired! :)

@Steve1310 has done a very nice job!

Im not crazy about it, and its by no means perfect, but i absolutely dont want to trace cables back to see where they go. here is the dry compartment to my Red Sea Reefer. The rest is in the closet behind the tank.
