I just purchased a new Marineland 125 to setup and cannot figure out if it’s tempered glass. There is a sticker on the bottom glass that says it’s tempered but not the sides. Called Marineland and spoke to CS and they said the bottoms are tempered but not the sides, but no warranty if it shatters while I drill it for overflow and returns. Any way to know for sure? Thanks

Take your cell phone and open up a blank white web page. Put it on the inside and then look through the tank using polarized glasses. As you turn the glasses if the whole thing goes even dark then its not tempered. If it looks like dots or stripes then it is tempered. Looking through your car windows will give you an idea since car windows are all tempered.

Thanks, I’ll try that. Bites that I went ahead and ordered the Synergy Shadow and may not be able to use it

You know the bottom is tempered. Look at it and you will see what you are looking for. It looked like tiger stripes on my 75.
Thanks. I didn’t think about comparing the different panels. The edges are really smooth so I don’t have much faith in the sides being regular glass

The sides are almost certainly not tempered. I just drilled a ML125 for a buddy .... successfully!
