Day seven for the gold torch larvae. I’m starting to see the formation of the mouth at the top of the pear.

Is it weird to get so excited over live rock from Australia? It’s been a long time since I’ve seen such colorful rock that isn’t dyed and is crawling with life! I’m not putting any of this in my personal system, but I thought I would share the photos and my geeky excitement over a box of rocks haha

Amazing tank! Question: how did you get your anemones to stay on the island? I am a new reefer, and am trying to decide if I want anemones in my tank. I have heard that they don’t tend to stay where you want. And have you had any issues with babies popping up in spots that you don’t want them?

It’s important to keep the anemone island rocks away from any other surfaces. The anemones do move around on the island, they shift positions over time and I imagine if they could grab on to a wall or another pile of rocks they would have spread out by now.

I have baby gold torches all over the tank now. They are getting to a point where they’re becoming annoying as they pop up in between corals and sting them to death over time. It is a little annoying, but hopefully I can successfully remove them when they’re more mature.

Just under two months since the eggs were released, the gold torch are settled out and starting to fluoresce. Nearly missed them had I not gone back and checked the floor of the nursery tank with an actinic flashlight. Hopefully the ones I found and removed from the detritus will survive

Here’s a closer shot of the red gig. The tentacles are certainly getting longer over time. There’s no question now whether it’s a gig, but the length and size of the tentacles aren’t as large as that of my blues and purples just yet.

I finally had a chance to read through your build thread. Excellent work!

Do you notice any dominance with your gigs? In my tank, by blue gig is dominant -- always the largest no matter how much I feed the others.

Yes, the purple took the cake and pushed out the green, started pushing out the blue. I moved the purple into a frag tank and now it’s just the blue with my purple and green mag. The red gig is happy on a lower flat shelf. The green was unfortunately smothered to death and I didn’t get to it in time ☹️
