MarvinsReef Zoanthid Dominated Reef...

Awesome Marvin. Looks like you've had some awesome growth over the 5 or so months you had it. I think large colonies of micros and acans look so awesome. Hope you plan on letting it grow out for a bit.

Great pics as always.

yup.. I'll be growing that guy until it encrusts the whole plug... I'm glad it worked out good growing it on that plug.. the Purple to the left, I'll be doing the same thing.. :)

Oh yeah, look forward to the POTD when you get back to it :)

yeah, I just re-aquascaped last night.. man, it took me a while for having such a tiny tank.. I think 5 hours and I'm not even done placing the corals yet.. I need to find some other piece of LR to make it look more nature.. ;)

got lots of tidying up to do still before resuming the POTD...

First off your tank is absolutely amazing. I enjoy following this thread to the utmost. Do you use a skimmer or just weekly water changes?

AWESOME Marv as usual. I look forward to more eye candy an your new layout.:D

Thank you very much.. :)

nope, no skimmer.. ;)

I use to do a 10%-15% waterchange every 7-10 days when the tank was fairly new but I've gone from 15%-20% water change every 3-4 weeks, depending on the schedule.. I've gotten a little busy at work lately but will slow down in the next month so I can focus again on the tank..

I do plan on getting the ASM mini skimmer in the next week or two.. :)

I also plan on getting 24w x 2 T-5 actinic supplementation in the next month to help with coloration..

yeah.. there's lots of work to do as I'm planning of filling the whole rockwork with zoas.. :D :D :D

it'll be a year old project..

Thanks... :)

I started doing water changes every 3 weeks not too long ago so it's too soon to tell if that will cause the zoas to increase in growth.. I do believe in maintaining your water quality thru water changes.. if I can, I'd still like to do my water changes atleast every 2 weeks (15%-20%)... but I've had a pretty hectic schedule lately and find myself too tired to do water changes..

I think my philosophy in keeping these zoas has changed also.. it's been a really really really slow process narrowing down my favorites and with the new aquascaping, I was forced to do it.. so I'm very glad about that... :)

here's my most current pic of the Red Wines... I did break up this main colony since it was growing on a branch rock... Red Wines like to spread themselves when they are budding and the rock didn't seem very friendly on their growth since some of them started stretching.. I'm left with multiple 6-8 polyps frags that I plan on watching grow into their glory days again of about 25+ polyps each! that will be a site to see.. :)
