I can't believe we have been waiting for months to see this tank and it really happened.... it still exists.
It was one of the reasons I kept hanging around here.
LOL

Looks good Matt, I hope you find some time for some TLC and get it back on track.
Haha it still exists and will be around for a long time!
Glad to have you hanging around mate, friends like you will keep me coming back here to!

The tank is tracking along alright at the moment, a while back things went south for a short while. Send an ATI ICP test and everything came back surprisingly good with the only standout low phosphate at 0.01
This tank has always made phosphate disappear.

Need to start stocking the tank a bit heavier, get some of the fish I’ve been after for a long time!

The tanks tracking along nicely at the moment. Added a trio of Cooperi anthias around a month ago and they have been such a pleasant addition. Adding movement and colour to the top of the tank. Were eating pellet foods on only the second day in the tank to.

Added a couple new frags to a few weeks back, all three showed some thinning tissue over the first week but that seems to have stopped and they’re on the improve. Hopefully just stress from shipping
A wild echinata is also doing well.
The Valida which was hurting the worst from the downturn a while back is now quickly encrusting back over the dead skeleton.

Ive put a lot more emphasis on testing this year and Alk gets tested every 1-2 days.
Hopefully can keep this good groove going and get this tank to where it deserves to be!

hey @Mattres what size is the ball valve on your drain? i am defeated right now with my tank - it's so loud and i cant deal with it anymore
Hey mate, I used a cheap 40mm pvc ball valve which is I think 1 3/4 inch.
@Spanky05 what did u use?

I did remove the valve a while back for cleaning and never replaced it as the noise didn’t change. How much flow do you have going through the drain? If it’s a lot reducing the flow through it will reduce the sound as well.

@Mattres, how is life on the other side of the world for the moment?
And also the tank, of course...?

checking in as well. My tank is back up and running. Need to get motivated to update the thread (or start a new one).
I was going through all my subscribed threats and yours was the following to wake up.
Let us know about the updates.
Glad to see you are still there.

HI, I have an older version of Elos 120XL and am struggling in keeping the water clear. There are particles floating on the surface and they don't seems to go towards the overflow. I do have couple of powerheads, one on each side, but it doesn't help. Any tips?

What powerheads are you using? Do you have any detritus traps in your sump?

Can you Elos folks give us an update on the quietDrain system? Do you recommend an Elos with a quiet drain? I am considering purchasing an Elos but adding a gate valve on the drain side seems like reducing the drain capacity and therefore increasing the risk of a flood.

IMO you only need the gate valve for a while until the pipes develop some sort of slime coating. At some point, I opened my gate valve completely and it was just as silent as it was with the gate valve partially closed. Not exactly sure what the science is here, but.. it works.

I have not opened my ball gate yet. Tank is just two years old now. If you use a DC pump, ideally, you can match the gph on the pump with the drain (with ball valve). I recommend a vectra so you can increase by single digit percentage points.

minus the ball valve solution, the tank is gorgeous. Elos did an excellent job. If I don’t go custom, I will likely upgrade to the 200xl.
