Maxspect Razor led.....thoughts?

I have 2 of the 120 watt fixtures next to 2 radions and 2 vegas all in seperate tanks measuring 48x18x12. I am not impressed. They dont seem to be intense enough to me. While the coral all seem fine in the tanks, the color is less then spectactular, and minimal growth compared to the vegas.

I Have a single 27 in fixture to go over a 30x30x16 tank that I was planning on doing acros in, I do not feel this fixture will be enough for that.

For the price you cannot beat them, I've installed quite a few and have been very happy with the results. Maxspect R420R's look better than any other fixture hanging too, unbelievably thin!

Personally I think the AI Vega Color (with new optics) are the best on the market color-wise, but are considerably more expensive than R420R's when all is said and done. I also cringe at the word "firmware", something which you'll never hear whilst dealing with a R420R.

Can the razors be controlled or monitored by a reef keeping system?

The Razor's controller is built into the unit and is self-contained. No external connections (aside from power) are possible or necessary.

IIRC some of the leds in the vega color are really expensive and not very useful, I think they are Osram deep blues, they are normal RB's being run really low (Low output) don't quote me on that, I'm tired so my memory is kinda fuzzy.
Also they are pretty pricey (The custom pucks) just to get rid of those awful CW's

I just got mine last week. It's the 16k nano one. Right now I have 10k cf bulbs white and antic(14g stock with biocube) Should I dial the razor back? 50% power?Dnt wana cook my corals. Any help be great.

I'd start around 20-30% I think....balanced however looks good to you. Work up slowly (weeks or months IMO) to the final intensity you want. Consider using a LUX meter ($15 on Amazon or a free app on your smartphone will work too) to gauge your current lights brightness and to measure your progress as you increase intensity.
