You can't keep up on calcium with the reactor? Also why the radion instead of an orphek?
Do you need 4 of them on the tank? Just seems like that number would be more wattage than halides. I'm thinking of switching at some point, my tank is 48/48/24 but all my rock is in a 36/36 section. I currently run a single 400 radium so I would hope 2 would cover the area.

personally I don't think you would get away with 2 as your tanks 48'' wide you would need 4.I have a weir at the back(RH) then the orphek and the radion pro over the high rock work which is mounted higher up on the rail set lower as the corals are touching the surface if that makes sense .With using 2 orpheks in the centre it was not enough light and I tried it at different heights but had lots of shaded area's. The tanks full of corals and I have control over the KH but the calc/mag need supplementing .

That is my concern, needing 4. My tank is acrylic and the eurobrace around it is 6inches on each side so essentially it make my tank 36/36. When aquascaping it I made sure to place all my rock in that 36/36 area so I would only need focused lighting there. That is how I get away with 1 halide over it.
But I know everything isn't perfect so I might need 4 lights. And for 4K, I'll keep my halide!

My best light was the 2 x 20k radium and T5 actinic tubes when I started the tank the running costs about the same as 4 led units if your getting away with one your on a winner.

Yeah the one is a par monster. With all the rock and coral in the center of the tank it makes it only necessary to have light hanging in that area, not off to the side. I am only lighting a 36x36in area essentially.

Have you had any Acrapora encrusting over any montipora ? I have a dark purple that's starting to grow over a pink montipora .just want to know if it will stop on its own ,or is it going to be history .your reef is spectacular bye the way.thanks for posting

previously and one will suffer and die off but that's what happens in nature ,I think its best to avoid it if possible and just trim one back.

The sump looks more crammed than ever as I have added a peri pump and timer as a single doser for suppliments also been having trouble with the dastaco and have dropped it down lower to the sump as I am going to replace the silicon tubing.

I have been running the tank over 12 months now and recently joined the forum , my tank is 54 x 30 x 30 if the admin think this should be in another section please advise or transfer.I posted a pic in the introduction section which pointed me here to do a tank thread so it will be pic heavy with changes made as i go to equipment etc.
