Megabite's 180 Reef - Round 2

Happy hump day all. My CBB died last week. Knew it would as it wouldn’t eat. That was my second attempt. I think I will put them off for now.

Also added a couple more Nero 5’s to the back bottom left and right of the tank. Had limited flow back there so pulled the trigger. Nero 3’s would have been enough, but magnet will not hold on 19mm glass. Now have 8 total PH’s in there. Here are a couple of pics.

Your tank is so beautiful. What percentage are the ReefBreeders running at, blues mostly?
Is that your lighting schedule or are you using a community schedule?

TIA

🙂
Thanks. My schedule is on the community tab under MegaBiteOG Meridians if you want to check it out.

Ahhh yeah 👍 I did look at it before. Of course I noted the white schedule, and I honestly still can't figure it out.
Does it serve the purpose of limiting algae growth, or increase coral growth with increments of lower intensity, alternating with spikes?
Again thank you in advance. 🪸

I'm not entirely sure if the ramping up and down of the whites are really better or not. It was created by David Saxby. I've changed my light schedules a few time with using the white peaks and more traditional lighting schedules without the ramps. My corals "seem" to like the current schedule most and I like the look of it ramping up and down throughout the day.

Thursday update of the Aquadelight.

Looks like the lighting repositioning has had positive results with nice growth and colors starting in areas that were shadowed. Overall there's a better balance of light which should be beneficial to all corals.

Going full reef nerd here, but every week I zoom in to look for new growth and polyps.

This is just one of the sections I zoomed to from the above pics. This is also one of the areas I'm getting more light from the edge bar repositioning. You can see all the growth and new polyps clearly in just one week. Is it crazy that this is fun for me?

Crazy for you? No. Crazy for a normal person? Totally.

(I am secretly geeking out. Don't tell anyone.)

You're right. I need to take sharper close ups.

I saw all the new growth immediately. Hard to say on the color as the pic from 6/17 looks more vivid but the pic from today looks to have more color overall. Then, again, we all see color differently. It's a physiological thing or somethin' I read about somewhere.

Thanks man. I'm still taken back how much this coral grows from week to week. I guess it loves the placement, lighting it's getting, and chemistry of the tank.

To you point, the colors do look different. More blues on the shot from the 17th as it was later in the day. The color on this coral has been good from the get go without much change.

Here are a couple of all actinic shots from tonight I took just for fun. The AD happened to be in the pic and you can see it's much more blue/ green than the earlier shots without the whites.

Is it me or is the coral directly in the middle of the pic growing at a right angle?

Kind of is. Here's a side and top down shot. Last one is from December 17th.

I was doing some routine maintenance in the tank this afternoon and took a bunch of top down photos of many of my corals.

Photobomb incoming!

It's pretty apparent that no one else will say it. So, once again, it falls to me. It's okay, though, as I have big shoulders.

Your tank and corals are meh. Then there is your picture taking ability that I won't even get into right now.

In other words; you stink.

See you all, now THAT’S how you give praise! None of this namby pamby “beautiful corals and pictures” or “love your tank”. None of that.

Chris, as we say in Georgia, bless your heart! ❤️

In Georgia, the phrase “bless your heart” can be interpreted in two ways: as a deep, genuine expression of sympathy or as a sarcastic way of saying, “you are a complete idiot.” To determine the intended meaning, it’s crucial to pay close attention to the speaker’s tone of voice and the context of the situation.
