My mossy frog enclosure. Turned a night stand into one. 😂
Just followed on IG. Cool content!
Thank you. 🙂

Looks like my competition corals seem to be happy so far where I placed them on the rock.

Those are some dang good pictures! Nice and clear, no floaties or algae to mar the natural acro beauty

Thanks man.

Not that you asked, but ……. These pics were in tank shots with an old camera tube. No tank glass that distorts and adds haze. Also running ozone helps make the water incredibly clear. Helps a lot in shooting really nice pics.

Thank you. Absolutely! I know it will be on IG. Wasnt sure if build threads on things other than reefs were a thing here 😄.

I currently have a list of projects to get to after my abrupt break in the hobbies. Spent the last 2 years caring for my parents as they passed. Just getting back to my usual flow now with some larger projects.
So sorry to learn of the recent passing of both of your parents. Sending good vibes to you and your family.

Thank you. Luckily I have a wonderful wife and three amazing boys to keep me moving forward. 🙂

Did a little clean up and organizing in the cabinet. Really like the footprint of the min Trident tower. We sure do jam a lot of stuff in these cabinets!

Yeah, I'm metrics crazy and love statistics. Not accurately knowing my light measurements was killing me. I have a cheaper PAR meter but just didn't trust it very much and got this one on sale last week.

So, initial reading puts par at the top of my rock during peak times at around 600 - 700 and ramps down to 400 - 550 much of the day. I thought this is an insane amount of light but my corals are growing very well, PE is great, and the color is very good. I figured with that much light, I'd be burning the hell out of things. Hell, I have about 400 - 450 on some places of the sandbed at peak.

The "more to come" is that I want to map the tank at different intensities and share results. I'm also want to record readings on the contest pieces to share on here. I figured now that I have it that I might as well share the info for those interested.

Here's my current lighting schedule.

Awesome! I know I, for one, would be interested in seeing that data

A little progress today getting set to map. Here's what I've done.

Designed and printed a holder for the Apogee to sit on the rim of the tank hands free.

Now I need to design/ print a phone holder to set on my tripod to do this sort of recording to each coral where I can see the reading and which corals the readings are coming from. The recording example below was of the Aquadelight at 4:00 PM.

NOTE: I reduced all channels 10% of what I posted yesterday. Although corals were doing fine, I felt the light was much more than needed.

Light height to water: 14"
Coral: Aquadelight from BC
Coral depth from water surface: 9"
Sensor Position: Near base of coral
Pumps: All pumps running
Average par at 4PM: 550 (µmol m-2 s-1)
Light intensity at 4PM:

I'd be happy to hear your thoughts on direction I'm going here and if there's something different different or to add.

Reef Breeders Meridian & Meridian Edge

Here's my first readings. These reading are all on the right side of the tank comprising of a RB Meridian OG 24" and a Edge Bar 14K 24". I was blown away of how much additional power the Edge Bar provides. I went and turn them down some in my regular schedule. For those with a Meridian and looking for a bit more coverage and a LOT more power, the Edge Bar can easily supply it.

All reading were taken with all pumps on and the sensor is being lowered near mid tank front to back.

Please excuse all the background noise as I was on babysitting duty of my beautiful Granddaughter.

You, sir, got a "love" emoji from me. This is, indeed, a rare day!

Well, to be clear, the "love" emoji wasn't given for your tank or your lights or even you as much as for your granddaughter.

(BTW - the video portion of your uploads do not play for me but the sound does. I am not sure if it's the files, the site or my machine. Maybe others will have better results.)

Thanks Chris. She's got me wrapped around her finger too.

I will upload them to Youtube and link them in that post incase someone else has issues. If you're running a VPN, that's why videos that are directly added to the site won't play for you. But YouTube will.

I just linked the videos to YouTube. Let me know if it works for you. With the Meridians and Edgebars at 100%, I was getting 600+ on the sandbed. CRAZY power! 🤯

Light is 36" from sandbed under about 22" of water.

Thanks for the tip about using a VPN. In this day and age, it surprises me that everyone doesn't use a VPN. You should remember, though, that I wear tinfoil hats and am an Ancient Aliens fan.

I'm with you on that. I run VPN on all my mobile devices and my home network is behind some pretty robust firewalls.
