anampses neoguinaicus

I have an opportunity to snag one of these beautiful fish and wondered if either of you have experiences with these particular fish? They are supposedly difficult to keep.

They are comparable to leopard wrasses. I have found it one of the easier Anampses species to keep.

I figured so, I've seen him in and out of the sand like he missed it lol, he was in a bare bottom tank before I got him.

Thanks for the advice, prompt replies.

Also, compatibility issues with a red Coris?
Maybe, maybe not. I've seen very peaceful red coris wrasses, and I have seen some aggressive ones. In most cases it should be fine, but there are always exceptions.

They seem to enjoy each other's company. I'm re homing the red Coris soon anyway, he's gonna get too big

I have mine for a few years now and as mentioned once acclimated its one of hardiest Tamarins. Mine is the first one up and last to bed in the sand at night and is constantly hunting all day. The trouble with species as like most Tamrins is finding a healthy one due the problems with shipping. GL.....

Yeah, I don't have much else to add here. It's an easier species assuming you start with one in good health, need sand, and are generally pretty peaceful. I wouldn't take a chance with the red coris.
It's also one species of Anampses where the males are definitely better looking than the females.

Guys correct me if I'm wrong but it's the male that develops the red coloration on the anal fin which I hope mine will develop.
Correct, red anal fins, a red margin on the caudal, and they have less black on their body.
