Good after noon y’all, just saw brightwell just released microbacter purple. I see it will feed your corals while adding beneficial bacteria. Just wondering if anyone got there hands on it and see if there is any long term benefits down the road.

I was just curious on the difference since I couldn't immediately see how they were the same. Good to know there is a cheaper option. If you don't believe me buy both and compare. Just use the microbe lift first and then compare if there is any difference. I just can't stand when we get hosed by marketing and brand name. In this industry there is a lot of companies that put their name on stuff that they repurpose from other industries like horticulture and fresh water and they then jack up the price.
Yes,It's all the same lol.
Which is why I pointed out that I specifically use Nautilus Macro.... A small local owned business where the guy bottles the stuff himself and sells it to the LFS around here. Labeled simply "Purple Non-Sulfur bacteria (Rhodopseudomonas palustris / rhodopseudomonas faecalis)". Strain directly on the bottle. If you don't believe me buy both and compare. Just use the microbe lift first and then compare if there is any difference. I just can't stand when we get hosed by marketing and brand name. I dump 1.5 ml per gallon every few days in the morning because it is a photosynthetic bacteria.I was just curious on the difference since I couldn't immediately see how they were the same. Good to know there is a cheaper option.
The purple nonsulphur bacteria is new to me. What benefits does it have? Any downsides? Does it need to be re-dosed or do you just need to inoculate your tank once?
Hi! Owner-operator at Hydrospace here. I assure you that these are very different products. This is the competitor to the PNS ProBio Purple bottle. It does help feed coral and provide good PE for acropora. I am hoping it hits amazon too since PNS is expensive to keep as a subscription.
Microbe Lift Special is also purple in color. Not sure if it is the same or not but the product helped me clear up as massive Dino outbreak in one week. Readily available and relatively reasonably priced. They are both the same thing as microbe lift special blend which cost about half a much as those other two and easier to find. You can get it at almost every big box pet store. Don't waste your money.
We developed the PNS HomeGro kit for that very purpose. :winking-face: Been out there for three or four years now, with great success rates. If this is live could it be cultured the same way you culture phyto?
Hi! Owner-operator at Hydrospace here. I assure you that these are very different products.
PNS ProBio is a high-density PNSB (purple nonsulfur bacteria) product containing three PNSB species, namely Rhodopseudomonas palustris, Rhodospirillum rubrum and Rhodobacter sphaeroides. It's formulated primarily as a food and probiotic. Microbacter Purple M contains a broad variety of species including one PNSB, Rhodopseudomonas palustris; I know because we produce the PNSB for them. That product is formulated primarily for bioremediation (especially nutrient control).
We're excited about this collaboration and are confident that Purple M is going to be wildly successful. I can say with certainty that we absolutely are not competitors. Indeed, these products are very different in composition, with theirs being a diverse consortium and ours being dominated by PNSB. And IMHO that's exactly what this industry needs right now--a greater range of more specialized, high-quality options, and fewer cheap copycats. :) Hope that helps!
That is literally nothing like PNS ProBio nor Microbacter Purple M. Trust me (or don't, and start asking questions). Each of these products contains a different consortium of bacteria and, notably, are grown under different conditions in different media. It's like saying a Lamborghini and a Ford Focus are "literally the same" because they have the same side indicator lights. It's literally the same as microbe lift special blend. Save your money and buy that. You can buy it at any Petco right now and it's half the price of the other two and it's been on the market longer.
That's a tough one, as there are only anecdotes floating around out there at the moment, and no reports from reasonably controlled experiments (that I'm aware of). I'd love to say with certainty that our product puts the boot to cyano, dinos, and ich too...but there is no conclusive evidence of that. Thanks! Which one would be more effective in combating issues such as cyano and dinos?
How would your product get rid of ich? unless that was an off handed joke that flew over my head hahaI'd love to say with certainty that our product puts the boot to cyano, dinos, and ich too...but there is no conclusive evidence of that.
There are different strains of PNS bacteria.. so not really all the sameIt's all the same lol.
How are they different then? Like I said previously I was told that they might be different strains so what strains are different? How are they cultured differently? That analogy you used is exactly my point, you are paying for a name not functional differences. There are different strains of PNS bacteria.. so not really all the same
IF you search microbelift on this forum you will see posts dating back over a decade talking about it being used exactly as hydrospace is marketing it. Microbelift is multiple strains of purple non sulfur bacteria as is Hydro space. If hydrospace is claiming they are different then they should make a published third party comparison. Until then if they are sold for the same purpose and both contain multiple PNS species they are the same and you are being fooled by marketing. There are different strains of PNS bacteria.. so not really all the same
Do you know what you are talking about? Microblift is a company also. They put stuff in bottle and sell it to you. They do it to make money and profit. You talk about how others are paying for markup.... Yet turn right around and buy marked up products yourself. How are they different then? Yeah because microbelift isn't charging twice as much lol. Telegraham actually has a comparison on HF. So jokes on you microbelift actually had more PNS than hydrospace.Do you know what you are talking about? Microblift is a company also. They put stuff in bottle and sell it to you. You keep saying you were "told" its all the same. By who? Perhaps someone trying to sell you a marked up product of their making and not the competition? :face-with-rolling-eyes:
Spend your money how you want. I'm suggesting you can get the original product with a longer history and cheaper. Hydrospace and Microbacter are the knock
Not really,Yeach because
Yeah because microbelift isn't charging twice as much lol. Telegraham actually has a comparison on HF. So jokes on you microbelift actually had more PNS than hydrospace.
Nice, Does the additional bacteria actually help though? Is there a measurable difference? Or is it just more bacteria doing nothing? Need that data on that. Need to know if any of those bacteria kill the other bacterias etc. Here
Actually I am the one that said people can buy what they want. How is buying the product for half the price buying a marked up product. Sorry I posted what telegraham posted and it was for the pro bio. Not the PNS. Like I said buy what you want I'm pointing out something cheaper.
