What is the 411 on this fish? Is it typically a hardy fish? Prone to Ich like the Powder Blue and Achilles? I want some yellow in my tank, but the $200-300 for a yellow tang is not attractive atm.

I have a 390 gallon acrylic tank that will eventually house angelfish, tangs, wrasses, sand sifting gobies (and perhaps PT or Niger triggerfish).

Any thoughts are appreciated.

If you want some yellow in your tank, this is not the fish for you.

They are only yellow when they are juveniles.

They turn into “chocolate tangs” when fully grown.

And all tangs are susceptible to ich.

Biota direct and they are 185 USD. Not sure where you are getting 300 from, 200 I can see with tax, shipping. Widen your search and there are some threads out there with good information on them. @bluemon pretty much hit it though.

Thanks. I am fine with the color change and like it actually. I read only one in a tank. That still apply to a 390gallon?

I have done a little bit of research and they seem extremely territorial towards others when they reach adulthood. Someone fact check me tho.

With regards to the apply / tank question pass by me. I do not know that answer, sorry. My display is only 210 gallons so substantially smaller. I will say that some of the fish I didn't think would find one another have. I'm talking about a couple of gobies so not sure if that really is a fair reply (apples to apples).

Whatever you decide if you don't have one I would recommend using an acclimation box. It can still give a false sense of security but it can provide a window to see how the existing fish view the newbie.
