Meet Mother Nem.

Mother Nem was given to me with a tear in her mouth and foot. She had been removed from a rock haphazardly resulting in the tears.
Close to 50 percent of her tentacles wouldn’t inflate, and she wouldn’t stick with her foot 100 percent. I was told when healthy she is 19 inches in diameter however she had shriveled down to about 6 inches.
I picked her up and brought her home. The top 2 photos are what she looked like when she arrived and was placed in the acclimation box in my nem tank. I wasn’t sure if she would make it. It was touch and go for quite some time. I placed her in a bucket of water with a mixture of Seachem Iodide and Simple Sugar (Glucose Syrup) {Thank you to the late Bob Fenner for this} it is essentially giving the nem a IV like how humans receive at the hospital when sick. It’s been about 2 weeks and she is almost fully healed as you can see in the two bottom pictures. I wasn’t sure how that mixture would go but after some nursing back to health and some iodide and simple sugar she is right as rain and eating like a champ. She was placed on her rock last week in the tank and is doing great. ❤️

Here is a clip of my tank yesterday. All is going well. Bubbles are doing great. 28 total now. Added a foxface for the bubble algae issue I was having. And a Sandsifting goby To help my sandbed stay clean.

here is a pic just in case the clip didn’t go through.

That’s awesome. I haven’t searched, but do you have more details on the Bob Fenner treatment? Could be useful info to have handy

I am up to six as of last weekend… I need to start rehoming them cause 10g tank. The clown fish aren’t complaining though… just everyone else.
interestingly enough my first one only split once as well as the successive ones. It seems so far, One will split and two months later the offspring will split.

How did I miss the tag on this thing lol. Wait I am old.

Awesome tank and love the fact "you can't mix them", but are lol.

I like mixing nems too. (This tank is now down, but I still have all these nems in other tanks with other nems lol)

Are they Condy’s on the bottom?
I’d love another Anemone that wasn’t a mini maxi in my 4’ Mixed Reef.

H. Crispa. LTA were on other side of the rock and there was one to the left, but not in pic.

I think at one point, I has at least 2x of every nem you can get in the trade (even a hellfire) and tons of ones you cannot. (NPS nems local to the Atlantic coast of FL.)

Edit: Speaking of Condy, I have 6 that will be here this Friday for my 32 biocube that I am doing as a 100% FL species tank.

Update on the Nem tank. Things are going well. 37 nems total. Had to thin out my rainbows. LOL. Struggling on the reseal of the 180, May end up just getting a 120 tank for my upgrade and use this one for a LPS tank. Not sure yet. Added a Foxface to the tank a few months ago. She had lived in a sump for over a year and I got her from the guy. She definitely has a personality. She will go into the nems as well like the clowns. The anemones allow her to host which is crazy to me. And she has no stings either. I’m attributing that to the thick mucus slime coat they have.
I have 10 different strains of BTA’s

Rainbows (2 different variants), Rose, Black Widow, Sherman, WWC Hawaiian Punch, Green Acid Rain, Arizona Sunset, Purple Passion and Chicago Sunburst.

Lots of rambling.

Just documenting my Mixed Bubble Tip Anemone Tank. My tank is a RedSea 350. The tank is currently 2.5 years old. My nems have been together for about a year. And all seems to be going well. As of yet no signs of chemical warfare. I have 19 nems total which include Rainbows, Rose, Black Widow, Green Acid Wash, Sherman Rose, Purple Passion and a Lemon Drop. They are fed daily as I have a paired Wild Caught Australian Gold Band Maroon and Frostbite Ocellaris Clownfish. (They have been paired for years) they are target fed Willows Coral Fest and Fuel for Corals by Aquavitro 2-3 times a week. They also eat the particles of food that are fed to the fish as well. The lights are 2 AI Primes and 1 AI Hydra 52. I do a water change of 30 percent weekly. I call it my Ocean Rainbow. I am currently working on a 180 gal upgrade. I will document my nem tank journey.

I'M SO IN LOVE WITH YOUR TANK! I'm hoping as my nem tank matures it turns out half this nice. Would you mind sharing your AI Prime settings?

If I want a couple different kinds of BTA in a tank is there something special you recommend doing that wouldn’t be necessary for one kind only? I’m not trying to go overboard, or get super expensive varieties, and I have a 180g so I feel like risk is relatively low and I should be able to separate them easily if needed?

Tank will be predominantly corals with a few nems throughout, not the other way around

I’m also considering trying to get a LTA as well, and will definitely get some rock flowers.

Nems seem to do fine with mixed species. Usually the only issues I see come up are from color variations of BTA. As in some have issues with CSB or acids mixing with rose/rainbows. Carbon filtration is usually the recommended plan when trying.

Top down view of the Nems. Happy and some have bubbles and some do not. No signs of stress.
Another question sorry! I really prefer the bubble look, is there anything I can do to encourage them to maintain that vs “deflating”? What % maintain the bubble look?

I have 9 nems in my tank now that originated from 2. One rose and one rainbow. Some bubble, some don't. Not sure of there's rhyme or reason.

I believe the bubbling results from the perfect combination of lighting and flow, all other conditions equal. In my 30 gallon I’ve noticed higher light & less flow (bubbling almost always) versus lower light with more flow. Here’s picture, that I thought was indightful, the nems originated from one nem.
