Mixing salt

I am mixing salt right now and have a general question about mixing it. The water temp is really cold and when I test the salinity it reads as 1.023. When it warms up to the right temp for my tank, 78, will the salinity be higher or lower?

What's the current temp of the water? It shouldn't make a huge difference in salinity. I'm not even 100% sure on how it works myself; isn't it cooler temps are saltier?

How cold is cold? If the water is so cold that it is not desolving all the salt crystals then I can see the salinity increasing when the water warms up and all the salt is disolved. Why not warm it up as close to 78 degrees to match your tank water and then test it?

+1 to Sara. I always bring RO/DI up to temp prior to mixing salt in.

The higher the temp the lower the salinity and vice versa.
