I would love to see details on your sump and equipment list.

After a week...What's your thoughts? I'm seriously looking at Mode and just created a new thread looking for Mode 135G owner's input and their thoughts.

Thanks!

So far so good. I’m using the stock 65g sump. I like how spacious the sump is. You have many options for the middle chamber.

This is my first tank with euro bracing. So far I’m liking it. Don’t have to worry about splashing water when cleaning algae near the top of the tank and my blue tang isn’t splashing water onto the outside glass anymore.

30” front to back provides more options on aquascaping. The flip side of having that much depth is that my existing flow pumps don’t appear to be enough. Probably need to get some more flow pumps to get more flow.

Yes it does.

Do you know the exact footprint of the sump section that would typically hold the skimmer?

Also, how deep is that section?

This info would help me in determining which skimmer to get. Thanks!

The area after the filter socks is about 10”x13”. Depth is adjustable.

Since no room for ato reservoir inside the stand. Bought a small cabinet from IKEA to hide my 13g ato reservoir.

I believe the weir on the overflow is too large and so surface skimming doesn’t work properly. Was getting a layer of stuff on the surface of the water. Bought some acrylic from Home Depot and used some epoxy coated magnets to make a DIY adjustable weir. Surface skimming much better now. I believe the adjustable weir also helped stabilized the water level fluctuations I was having previously as well.

Switched to gyre pumps. Less obtrusive and a lot of flow.

So the MP40's are not enough?
I only had MP10s which only work on the side glass because of the glass thickness on the back is too thick. The other pumps on the back wall were the smaller Tunze and Rossmont 1900. It didn't seem like they provided enough flow for me. I think a couple of MP40s would work fine.

Added a Icecap kalkwasser reactor. Was using kalkwasser in my ATO previously which led to fluctuations depending on evaporation rate. Ran into some issues with the reactor due to back siphon then issues due to kinked dosing line. Hopefully alkalinity and calcium will be more stable now after resolving those initial issues. Another plus is I don't have to mix the kalkwasser into the ATO reservoir every 5-7 days. Now I just have to add more kalkwasser to the reactor once every 2-3 weeks.

I have the same reactor. Make sure you keep an eye on it. I’ve had mine overflow twice. The line always appears clear, but sometimes the water doesn’t come out. I don’t know if there is some kind of surface tension in it or some build up I just didn’t see. Eventually it fills and comes out the top. When I take the little fill cap off to figure out what’s wrong then it comes pouring out.
