Modern Reef ICP - Any Experience?

Has anyone tried out the Modern Reef ICP testing service? I sent my sample out three weeks ago and when I check status on the website it stills says they have not even received my sample.

Super annoying that you have to make your own label and pay for shipping to send the sample in. That said I would not mind making my own label if I could get reliable results back in a timely fashion. I have never had a shipping issue with any of the other ICP providers (I have used three others).

I paid for the ICP-MS and you only send in one vial of tank water and it is not filtered. This is in contrast to the ATI ICP-MS where you send in three vials, two of which are drawn through a filter they provide. I was planning to compare Modern Reef and ATI head-to-head but that requires me to get results from MR. I got the ATI results back 8 days after it was picked up from my mailbox!

Mine took 8 days. Test results and analysis is similar to what you would get from Dr Wood at Captiv8 and OCEAMO but more thorough than any of the others I have used in the past. Like DR Wood they give you a plan for exact dosage amounts to rectify elements that are below recommended amounts as well as offering a premixed formula.

Glad to hear your honor results back in a timely fashion! I have a bunch of MR ICP tests sitting on my shelf so I assume one of them will make through the supply chain eventually! I am hoping to have Modern Reef as my go-to testing service but need to see the results. I also have a bunch of ATI ICP-MS sitting around so if this MR sample is lost I’ll run another head-to-head in June.

I’ve been using their ICP tests for the last few months on 2 systems. 7-8 days has been the turn around on all of them. I think the key it to make sure it gets to Maimi by Wednesday. UPS ground on Monday from NJ does that for me. check the tracking on when it gets to florida, you might have to speed up
The shipping method if it doesn’t make it.
MR ICP is on par with oceamo and Ati ms from what I see, and saves you quite a bit as you know.

Update: My sample has been located and is being tested woo hoo! Not sure how comparable the test results will be vs. the ATI ICP-MS given the delay but will see.
